Note that it says "most" Ecoboost orders, not all Ecoboost orders. Even with the increase to 25 percent for XL's, they have 31 percent XL orders.

Exactly!! Using meaningless words like "most" and "some" only leads to more confusion. Just tell the customers who ordered in good faith what their status is and let them move on. Ford wants to keep us on the hook so we will order a 2024 model Maverick. So very sad!!!

Ford doesn’t make nearly as much money per vehicle selling Mavericks as F150’s, or bigger. That’s a big reason Ford quit making “cars”, they thought the profit margins were too small.

Couple that with lithium battery supply issues and you have a bad situation for the Mav buyer, especially for hybrids.

Its just bad times for anyone needing a replacement vehicle now, no matter what your in the market for.

As for wanting a new vehicle, well, the old saying; “If you want play, you gotta pay” is here in spades.

Understood. So why accept orders you know you can’t fill? Why offer a lower end entry level vehicle if you’re not interested in building it? The malfeasance is on Ford. The domestics vacated the cheap car and family sedan realms (either through desire for greater profitability or sheer inferior products) and it got them where? They sell trucks and SUVs. But they’ve lost the entry level crowd who would buy something bigger in the long run.

Not disagreeing with you.

Perhaps Ford has a plan to reduce the number of hybrid orders placed for the 2024 model......I wouldn't doubt if a big price increase comes for the hybrid option, and the ecoboost might actually be the standard option now. That's the way most manufacturers sell hybrids anyways, usually a $3-5k option if you want the hybrid

True but I'm not going to drop $60k on an ginormous F-150 either.

Ford made a decision that has resulted in short term profit boosts at the expense of long term market share losses.

With increased interest rates, and money being taken out of the system, you're also going to see buyer demand wean for the expensive half ton market, as well as expensive large three row SUVs.

Just IMO though. Seems eerily similar to 2005-2006 time frame, where automakers were pumping out huge profit-loaded SUVs.

Ford still needs the hybrids to help towards their fleet CAFE numbers

Not if they sell enough EVs, which currently massively outweigh hybrid production for the US market...

As of May they'd only sold 20k EVs. I think they'd need to sell a whole lot more. Honestly don't know what the tipping point would be.

~20k in 5 months with production capacity growing. Way more demand for EVs than they anticipated when planning Maverick from a CAFE standpoint.

Same email. I know some folks are getting their XLT Hybrid they ordered last September built in July. They also said we may have more news in July. Yes, the battery access problem. I need it before I'm driving these hush puppies.

You would think that after two years Ford would be able to find a few batteries for their hybrids. Tesla doesn’t seem to have any trouble building hundreds of thousands of EV’s. Maybe Ford could borrow a few batteries from them!

Yeah, because no other company is demanding batteries. Tesla got off to an early start building batteries because they didn't have another reliable source. Ford, GM, and everyone else is catching up building battery plants.
