Obviously the dealer misled you. Perhaps you can show them the picture of the Ford accessory hitch and ask why they didn't sell you that one.

No it does not. If you look at the PDF that @Hot Runr Guy linked to in the second post it looks exactly like the aftermarket manufacturer intended.

Unfortunately , now a days you have to be an everything ( engineer , mechanic and ECT .) to get anything done correctly it seems . Hope you can get this worked out to your satisfaction . Good luck .

Two wrongs still won't make it right. If that's the way the manufacturer intended, it to be mounted then they also made a mistake. Clearly way to low.

IDK man I only see one potential wrong here and that is the dealership misleading the OP into thinking that an aftermarket hitch install would look OEM.

With the camera recall and all, I’m sure they still have some on the lot with the factory hitch installed. Have them compare and try and convince you that what they installed is OEM.

Edit: In some ways this hitch may be better than factory. Since it sits lower, it may allow you to open the tailgate with a trailer attached. With my trailer and factory hitch, if it was about half inch lower, I’d be able to open mine and not worry about hitting the trailer hitch by accident.

I'd like to know if it was the service department that sold him on the aftermarket hitch or the parts department. Did the OP go to the parts counter and they recommended this hitch and service installed it. Or did he go to service and an advisor talked him into this aftermarket hitch that has left him very disappointed.

Just my personal curiosity from being a retired Ford parts counterman.

Yeah it is kind of weird.....The one HRG linked to does look very similar to the official Ford accessories one so maybe it is a Ford licensed product?? Who knows.

Got my hitch installed today. I was so excited until I noticed they i stalled it incorrectly and now I have to take it back and make them fix it. Oh and replace my bumper because they did some custom work to it to get it where they put it... Not amused.

The OEM hitch receiver goes in the plastic panel above the word "Walker." That's what the panel is for.

Have Walker remove it, get a refund and take your truck to another dealer if you can. Walker is apparently run by clowns. If you don't have another nearby Ford dealer, go to a body shop and see if they can order the OEM parts for you and install it.

Why did you not say anything when you picked it up? Or were you trusting them to install it correctly and did not bother to look? What kind of a dealer would try to pull that over on you?

I did say something. I said shouldn't that be where that panel is? He said no that just a panel. I pulled a face and went home to get more proof.
