What PSI air pressure are your tires?

here’s my issue.
My Dealer does the Nitro upgrade (no choice - part of Dealer Package), but it doesn’t account for altitude. They set it for 32psi in Tucson, but when I get home, (over a thousand feet higher in altitude), my tire pressure is lower (28 - 30 psi).

Wanna check that again and report back????

The pressure in your gauge is the DIFFERENCE between inside and out.

If pressure in the tire stays the same, and outside air pressure drops, the difference in the reading goes UP.

Example : 40 psi while in mountains will be 35 psi at sea level.

You'd be surprised how many people don't know this.

They think the max PSI on the tire is what the tire should be set at. I recall a thread on it here where multiple people chimed in and said this.

Personally... I only use 60* PSI... 65 is waaaaaaaay too rough

My Michelins came from the dealer at 37 psi. The factory recommendation on the door panel is 35 psi. Thinking about going to 32 psi for a smoother ride.

Averaged 47mpg on the last two tanks.

Ditto on the 40. My EB only dreams of 47MPG.

I set mine to 36 when I fill them, under the assumption that they will (and they do) slowly bleed pressure over time. When 2 or more hit 34 or lower they get refilled. It's nice having a reasonably accurate pressure meter on the dash although I suspect one of the sensors reads low.

Just checked my tires yesterday. (these are the "Take-offs" from my MAV's brother).
They were at 32psi.
I adjusted them to 35psi.
Noticed on the side of the tire that the max psi is "51"

A sligth overinfaltion does not hurt anything contrary to underinflation which causes tires to overheat and to "explode". From Michelin school. I noramly run 38/40 PSi

I've run mine up to 40 but the fuckers drop back to 35 within a week. I've done it a few times now, it's strange how they stabilize around 35 every single time.

I run mine at 37-38 PSI. I adjust pressures on average about once a month, depending on ambient temperature changes.

Yes…really. Exactly what it says. That’s the max that should be put into that particular tire. Some people do run the max for several reasons.

I have a few different air pressure gauges. All of them read different pressures.

I feel sorry for the folks with OCD chasing the displayed tire pressures.

I attended ford tire tech school in Dearborn along time ago and the teacher stated ford engineering can try several brands and pressures to get the best overall result. They stated on the vin label you will find the best pressure for handling and ride quality
