Memorize the door code for anyone with a 22 or 23, it comes in handy when you don't have keys on you and want to grab something out of the truck. When detailing, I leave my key inside the house to avoid having the truck repeatedly lock & unlock when washing, drying, and applying a top-coat, otherwise it senses my hand near the sensors and starts doing so. (Mine's a Lariat & looks for the proximity key, and object near either the lock or unlock sensor).

I was shocked when Ford removed the driver door keypad starting in '24, as it can be super useful.

One time I got locked in my car and the keys were in the house. I didn't know what to do. Good thing I had my cell phone to call my wife and have her click the unlock button. 😂 😂 😂

I don’t know how to attach copies of previous posts, but, the little video of beating the dead horse was freaking hilarious. I did in fact bust out laughing. Thank you.

I drive a 2020 Equinox for work. Push button start. When I want to warm it up, I have to lock it with the fob outside the vehicle. If I manually lock it and close the door, it unlocks. Ford? My wife's C-RV autolocks when you walk away with the fob. Ford?

There is also the combination entry on the side pillar. You should never be locked out.
My 2023 XLT had the number pad. My 2024 Lariat does not as Ford has dropped it from the Maverick and other lines as well. You can buy a cheesy one from Ford that you can stick anywhere.

Meaning it's driver's error when they get out and accidentally lock the door with their hand.
Piss-poor design. I don't think automakers do any real-world testing anymore. There is just too much "user error" out there right now. I thought they drove prototype vehicles around for months testing stuff out. Apparentlty this doesn't get done anymore. Plus, it's been happening for 3 model years now and Ford can't be bothered to redesign anything (except the crap-looking front end of the '25s!)

So, the key can be in the Maverick, and the act of you just walking by the Maverick locks the doors?

Your truck is f'n psychic!!
My Maverick doesn't do that. But I had a 2017 Fusion that did all kinds of stuff (including locking the doors) at night when no one was looking. It was in the garage and I even witnessed it turning interior lights on, and locking the doors. Key fob was 50' away. That Fusion ate 3 batteries under warranty, and the dealer service dept. "could not duplicate problem". I figure by now Ford wold have all these magic electric gremlins worked out, but apparently they don't. Very poor engineering.

After all of the discussion of this problem, nobody has ever been able to show proof that this happens. Do you think you can show proof that it automatically locks without intervention and nothing in your pocket is pushing the lock button while you're working around it?
Why does anyone have to prove anything? I have never owned any modern vehicle (other than classic cars) that would allow you to lock the doors when the key was inside. It's been this way for around 2 decades, when they started puting chips in ignition keys, and started using fobs for locking/unlocking of the doors. The door lock (manual, or electric) simply will not allow you to lock your keys in the car. We have gone backwards. We are forced to accept new "technology" that doesn't work properly. What was wrong with a key you had to put in the ignition, or door locks that did not depend on a computer to work the way they should?

Some of my Chrysler products, you had to physically put the key into the door lock from the outside and turn it to lock the car. Some you could push the inside lock button down and hold the outside handle out as you push the door closed, in order to achieve locking the door without a key.
