Car locked me out with keys inside

Was this a push button start? I would assume if it's the traditional key in the ignition, for the XL or XLT, it would not lock?

I feel your pain! I was in line at the gas station preparing for a hurricane and filling up gas cans. Went to the bed to pull out the cans and shut the door. I actually have the app on my phone, but locked both keys and phone in car. Hadn't set up the door keypad yet since the car was purchased used and I didn't know the master lock code. Really motivated me to find the code—which I did, on the passenger side fuse box cover. Ugh!

24 XLT. Lux package. It does NOT have an outside keypad.

My 24 XLT FX4 doesn’t have it either.

@Julie Harris In most cases when this occurs, it is user error and the manual door lock is accidentally pushed in when opening the door from inside to get out. The manual door lock that I refer to is above the inside door lever, circled in red in the picture below. The Maverick is not programmed to automatically lock doors when you get out.

There is also the combination entry on the side pillar. You should never be locked out.

I have a 2024 Lariat and it did not come with that.

Nope they've done away with it across a lot of their lineup. They have the wireless version now as an add on. I got that on my 24 XL. And apparently the price really went up on the 25's for it.

Still that's half off the F150 price for the same thing...

No. Not all do. My 23 didn't have it.

Well it's disappointing that all Mavericks don't have the keypad. This nickel and dime'ing is such a joke anymore.

This use to happen to me all the time. I could pull the truck out of the garage and get out to check the mail. Once I walk back the doors are locked with truck running. I have taken it to the dealership and never locks up in front of them. The keypad has been a lifesaver. However if you get into the habit of pressing the unlock button twice when getting out of the Maverick it will never lock up.

My biggest complaint about my Maverick is the 1990's key! Flip in, flip out...so annoying! My 2017 C-Max had keyless entry!

Get on that. The owner's manual tells you how to get the stereo to display the master code to you. Keep that somewhere safe. Mine's in my phone, but also accessible on my smartwatch, so I can get to it if I'm locked out.

The bad news is, you can't change/remove that master code, so the previous owner might still know it. I don't know if that's something a dealer can reset or not.

Sooooo two nights ago I was driving north for the holidays. I parked in a lot and got out of the car to get something. The car immediately locked me out with my phone, keys, and dog inside. This has never happened before - it’s never locked itself with keys inside (or outside! I always have to manually lock it with the fob). It was freezing and I was outside for 3 hours waiting for a locksmith in the middle of the night. Anyone else have this happen? In case it matters, I have a 2023 Maverick with 30k miles. Just took it in for service a few weeks ago. Thanks for your help!

This happened to on a friend's '24 Ranger. He tried to open it using the Ford Pass app but was unsuccessful. He called Ford thinking they could remotely unlock the door, but instead sent a locksmith who wanted to break in by inflating a pillow on the top of the door. Instead I drove him home to pick up his second key. I have no idea how this happened.

I opened the window on my Maverick and tried to lock it with the keys inside, but it would not lock. Also I am able to lock and unlock my truck with the Ford Pass app.
