Ford estimates the EPA MPG rating for the 2025 AWD Hybrid will be 40mpg city which is 2mpg less than the 2024 FWD Hybrid rating of 42 city. Not as big a hit as I was expecting.

Yeah, not a bad hit to mileage.

Hopefully in MY27 Ford scraps the driveshaft AWD for a second smaller electric motor in the rear.
It will improve fuel economy as well as performance.

I'm still waiting for an official number from Ford. I'm assuming for those who have their 25s being built as we speak, they're also getting a pdf of their window sticker that has an official city/highway/combined rating. Judging by what Ford estimates in the city, there's only a 2 mpg hit with AWD across the board. Since the FWD Hybrid gets 42/33/37 (city, highway, combined) I would imagine the AWD Hybrid will look like this: 40/31/35 (city, highway, combined)

First, I placed a deposit for a Rivian R1T. But then the missus and I decided that without proper infrastructure, a fully electrical truck won't make sense, we needed a hybrid.

Then a hybrid Tacoma was announced. I placed an order. Then the official EPA rating was announced - a hybrid version added a whopping 1 MPG to a non-hybrid version -24 MPG vs 23 MPG. Toyota said it was because the battery was so heavy that all that juice was pretty much spent on hauling itself.

Then a 25 Maverick with AWD+Hybrid was announced. I said "Buy-bye Toyota". If Mavericks will be 40/31/35 officially, then with my smooth driving I will make it close to 40/34/37. I always get higher highway gas mileage than official figures.

There's a rumor going around that the first run of the 25 AWD hybrids are not being shipped yet while the the EPA confirms Ford's 40/31/35 (city, highway, combined ) rating.

We have several R1S and one R1T in my little mountain village, which is a head scratcher. I adore them every time I walk by one at the supermarket, but they're just too big for me. I was so hoping they'd announce an R2T...

Maybe one day an R2T would replace my wife's Tesla Model 3. But until a good charging infrastructure is there, we'll need at least one hybrid pickup in the family, so I am pretty sure I'll be keeping my 25 Maverick for a long time.

Afaik it's a front biased awd system. Rear diff is uncoupled most of the time. Under highway cruising the only drag would really be from just the fraction and inertia from the gears/shafts spinning idly

If you use the EV coach screen in the Maverick Hybrid, you can learn how to drive to get much better City mileage than the EPA rating of 40.
Not sure what that means, but hopefully I'll figure it out. 🙂

The EV Coach shows you, in real time, what mode the truck is running in; Electric (blue), Charging (green) and Hybrid (white) - gasoline engine + electric or gasoline engine only).

You want to drive in a way that keeps the truck in Electric or Charging modes as much as possible. Use the site search and search the Forum Thread Titles for EV Coach. Also search for Pulse and Glide.

Thank you, appreciate it! As soon as I get the truck delivered... 🙂

Be sure and read through the manual. You can learn a lot from it. Also, download the .pdf version on your phone and PC, if you have one. The .pdf is zoomable and keyword searchable. You can get the .pdf at ford.com
