Off the screen I trust the technology 🤣
Truly, even off the screen is impressive if you're doing 80% highway. I wouldn't mind seeing that overall fuel economy for you.

My overall fuel economy since buying the Maverick with about 1600 miles on it is 30.4mpg hand calculated with about a 60/40 highway to city mix.

I will definitely do a manual calculation between my next two fill ups I’m sure it will be less but I need to know 👍

I wonder if those supplemental heating strips are drawing too much electrical power...

The benefits of a hybrid or electric vehicles become less evident in colder climates. Just something to take into consideration when trying to decide on which type of vehicle best meets your needs.

I started using Fuelly for this vehicle, just to track mileage. I've only had one full tank fill and one partial that wasn't tracked, but the tank fill this morning averaged 33.7 mpg. It's an easy app to use.

Mostly the difference is cabin heating.

Running the motor for heat just turns this into a MZR 2.5L Mazda/Ford with a good CVT. (25-33 MPG).

But you can put it in ECO mode and still just drive it around on the battery if you are careful and don't have traffic behind you to piss off :) If you can use the seat heaters and steering wheel heat to avoid asking for engine heat, then you can still make the most of the Hybrid's efficiency. It will take 15 minutes to warm up v/ 5, so it is only worth trying to maximize EV mode if you are going on a longer trip where the thing will warm up eventually.

My goal with every drive is >45 MPG and the vehicle's lifetime average if 47.4 as we come out of winter.

2023 Lariat driven to the Atlanta Airport almost daily (88 mile RT on the freeway).

I do not consider Atlanta as a cold climate. I am talking about the Northern tier States. Where temperature stays in single digits or below for days or even weeks at a time.

More likely it's a problem of not using those more and the engine less for general heat.

The requirements to kick those on is max heat selected and cold temps, and engine running already, since they draw more than the HVB can provide on it's own.

So they aren't the reason for HVB being drained faster like AC does, resulting in ICE running more for recharge.

Rather ICE is running for heat already - if those strips are called for not much was changing except slow HVB recharge perhaps.
But if cold enough for ICE to run - not like you were going to get a lot from the HVB anyway.

2025 Maverick XL with AWD. I'm pretty impressed with the mileage. Example: I have a regular 120-mile trip between the home we are moving from and the one we are moving into; highway driving all the way, though the speed limit is lower in parts due to construction and/or two-lane. Average speed is 53 mph, and I'm consistently getting in the low 40s mpg. Last trip was 43.4 mpg. Eco mode of course.

For what it's worth, I have had my AWD hybrid for 2.5 months now. City driving with some highway I was getting close to 41 MPG. When I took it for a 5 hr all highway drive, that trip averaged 32 MPG.

I've had my 2025 Hybrid AWD Maverick since late April and am averaging between 38 and 40 mpg with most trips being short local excursions with limited interstate travel.

I just purchased my Maverick in May 1st. I will learn about Hybrid MPG this winter in Alaska. I may even need to plug in the block heater. 🔌
