I have a brand new 2024 XLT and its awesome!
The steering feels very tight and heavy. If you try to one hand it, your arm gets tired pretty quick.
Are any of you experiencing this? Maybe it will loosen up over time?

The power steering is electric and the assist amount normally varies with speed. On the 24 I test drove it felt pretty normal to me but I can lift 200 lbs so there is that...

It does get easier to steer as the tire edges round off and the steering components wear in, imo. 😬

I have a 24 XLT and steering is light. Since it's electric it may be adjustable. My son had a Mustang that had several settings for various driving conditions. I haven't found that setting in my 544 page owner's manual. That may not exist on the Mav. When all else fails, see the dealer.

Same... Much stiffer steering than my 2020 Escape Titanium. 1700 miles, slowly getting used to it. lol

Depends on the comparison. I've had vehicles without power steering and the Maverick steers very easy in comparison. I've also had some where the power steering had so much boost, the wheel almost wanted to turn by itself. The Maverick seems set about right.

Mine felt a bit heavier than I expected when it was brand new. It doesn't now, so either I've adjusted to it over the 5K miles I've put on (likely), or it has loosened up (not so likely).

Keep in mind steering is Fly by Wire - There is no physical connection/linkage between the steering wheel and front wheels

Cheers
There is a connection, it is just electrically boosted rather than hydraulically. You can disconnect power to the rack (turn the truck off) and steer the wheels back and forth because it has a mechanical linkage.

I think it is set to heavier steering on purpose to make it more "truck" like. Marketing decision.

If you have the Luxe package, you might want to check and make sure that the Lane Centering function is not turned on. The button is on the end (tip) of the left hand stalk. I’ve noticed a heavier steering feel when it is turned on, both during regular driving and when using Adaptive Cruise Control.
