Great Truck but..... Issue with dash quality. Many vehicles and this never happened before.

Which one wouldn't fare very well?
If you're talking about the 3D printed piece of garbage Made in the USA you're exactly correct.
Yea, it looks like it’s paper thin and not even square, as far as the corners/joints go.
Unfortunately, made in USA gives some questionable vendors an excuse to pedal inferior crap.

The sides of it are paper thin.
It seems like everybody who's got a 3D printer sitting in their office fancies themselves as a manufacturer. I would be very skeptical before I'd ever buy a 3D printed item. Especially on Etsy.

Here are some of the 3D items I have bought, 1/25 scale engine parts.

Exactly, cheap materials from overseas vendors.
Yep, many Xinese plastics--especially softer ones-- have poor quality unstable plasticizers that leach out rapidly with heat and react with surfaces they contact. Heat can break them down and make them chemically agressive, I'm told. My bet is the dash cover caused it.

This one is simple.....

OP used a cleaner/wipe on the dash and then immediately put that mat on top of it. Since it wasn't fully, completely, and absolutely dry, there was this reaction and damage to the dash. That's why you can see the mat's texture imprinted.

Be careful with what you use to clean the interior and exterior of your vehicles. There are a lot of car "detailing" products on the market that will just trash the car.

We just bought a 2024 XLT FX4 and, while looking, saw a tan hybrid on the dealer's lot and my wife noticed a discolored area of the dash...it looked like a swath cleaned with something that discolored it.

Dealers tend to use super aggressive products in their cleaning. They aren't the best quality either.

My stock dash still looks great, 2 years later with many hours sitting in the Arkansas sun. Maybe don't use an ugly cover next time!

Our gname brand (can’t recall which - maybe Garmin) gps stand leaves marks….on my new car 11 years ago. Put it on leather seat and left mark there too! Bottom has very very jelly rubber so it doesn’t slip.

I’m just wondering if anyone else uses a dash cover. I have my Maverick coming in January or February and I’ve already bought a dash cover . Anybody else have the same problem?

at least 2 people replied already in this thread saying they did have dash covers, there is at least one link to one of them, and others using them said they have no issues.

based on that and also seeing prior instances of damaged interior plastic, I'm about 90% confident it was a cleaning agent, 9% it was a random aerosol (like insect repellent), and less than 1% chance it was the dashmat *by itself*.

there are marks from the dashmat but I think that's after whatever was sprayed / oversprayed started eating the plastic.
