  1. 2025 Maverick AWD Hybrid vs Ike (The world's toughest towing test) by TFL

Whether the vehicle costs $10k or $40k,.saving $10k on fuel is saving $10k... Always finding excuse for spending is why most people have little wealth whereas I'm worth $4.5m (half roughly tied up in retirement accounts),.not including our home. Income isn't in top 10%.
  2. Why is winter *highway* mpg so low?

I watch my gas mileage closely on my 2013 Ford Focus non turbo.. I average upper 30s in summer 33 to 35 in winter in Syracuse New York... Around 10% maybe 15% but not 20% lower... I'm using the same tires year round and I keep them inflated a couple pounds above recommended.
  3. Why is winter *highway* mpg so low?

If this is a sample size of one trip that's not valid. You may have been driving into a wind.
  4. 2025 Maverick AWD Hybrid vs Ike (The world's toughest towing test) by TFL

Saw a new Ridgeline advertised for $35,xxx....last remaining 2024.
  5. 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD Rear Differential (photos)

I think I read the drivetrain is beefier for 2025 though...unsure if it's all hybrids, AWD, or just 4k hybrids.
  6. Aftermarket locking differential for hybrid Maverick?

Too funny today on TV I saw a product that straps around your wheel and tire to give you traction. It has a strap that goes through the spokes of the wheel perpendicular to the height of the tire. The strap holds a plastic piece that goes across the tread... Basically like tire chains except...
  7. 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD Rear Differential (photos)

I would worry about RAV4 in snow and ice which is even more slippery...I didn't watch the videos, am working now, sort of. Do all 2025.hybrids come with the new beefier CVT or just AWD or just 4k towing? That's a huge upgrade - replacing CVT's is very expensive ($8k on Subarus. I might get...
  8. 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD Rear Differential (photos)

Found the video. They seem to be referring to the fact that the motors aren't super powerful but personally I think that's ridiculous - the rear wheels don't have as much weight on them so why would you want a lot of power on the rear wheels in a low traction situation...
  9. 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD Rear Differential (photos)

Coincidentally I was reading an article recently or YouTube video and they mentioned Toyota's all wheel drive with the electric motors independently powering the rear wheels does not work well. I was very surprised by that and wonder if other people agree. I thought of that design before Toyota...
  10. Manual Sliding Rear Glass Aftermarket Solution - LQQK

I've wondered if you could put a suction cup on the window - the type you hang Christmas lights with, and attach a wand to it, similar to mini blinds wand, to open it from the front seat easier.
  11. Hybrid 3000 oil change - my report & tips

Holy smokes are you telling me Ford is still requiring a huge shield that covers the whole engine compartment to be removed? I don't own a Maverick but my older disabybrother does, and he's probably due for his first oil change. I hate that aspect on my 2013 Focus. I assumed they would have...
  12. EcoBoost Oil Change Maintenance Tips

Same here...15 years ago I bought a bunch of small very strong yet cheap magnets for remote controlled airplane (various uses)... I figured why not put some at bottom of filters. I usually have two of them on the end of the filter.... No idea how much it helps but it can't hurt. One guy up...
  13. Official: Scout EV Pickup & SUV debut w/ Gas Range Extender, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Video

the current design of the $7500 program is working great, heavily encouraging many companies to build battery plants here, for example. Similar to how feds subsidized more expensive oil extraction methods because we don’t want to be reliant on foreign oil. As we saw during Covid shutdown...
  14. Great Truck but..... Issue with dash quality. Many vehicles and this never happened before.

Our gname brand (can’t recall which - maybe Garmin) gps stand leaves marks….on my new car 11 years ago. Put it on leather seat and left mark there too! Bottom has very very jelly rubber so it doesn’t slip.
  15. The last straw? (Vehicle down for 3+ weeks, with no end in sight.)

That's bizarre... Why have a 12 volt battery at all then. And by the way, you didn't previously state the 12 volt battery doesn't turn the starter. Didn't even Tesla have a 12 volt battery for a long time? I think they got rid of it not very long ago.
  16. The last straw? (Vehicle down for 3+ weeks, with no end in sight.)

If your 12 volt battery is dead you probably wouldn't be able to start the car because the voltage converter won't be able to supply hundreds of amps at 12V I surmise. Could power everything though else though via the voltage converter....and they shouldn't do the auto-stop if battery is marginal.
  17. The last straw? (Vehicle down for 3+ weeks, with no end in sight.)

I surmise and hope it went into shutdown mode when the engine turned off at the red light and therefore had nothing generating power. If you're driving at 75 mph the alternator is generating power....
  18. Tested: Hybrid Maverick Peak Torque = 267 Lb-Ft

CRC 6026 comes in spray cans. I bought a pack of six as my recollection for a discount through some place who sells it on Amazon. O'Reilly's or another local place had it one time on a good sale as well. I think I paid 10 to $13 a can but one can doesn't go very far. I might Ford Focus the...
  19. Tested: Hybrid Maverick Peak Torque = 267 Lb-Ft

Been using that on my 2013 Focus - haven't lately but am not driving much - teleworking. Starting to get some surface rust underneath but typical rust areas - door lower lips, hatch, fender edges all look great.
  20. 2.0L - Ecoboost downgraded to 238/HP ?

I read somewhere it's due to a particulent filter...which is $4k to replace on some other engine (escape?).
