This is only because Ford is doing it wrong with the Maverick. They should be doing it like they do with the F150, where the base engine is an ecoboost and the top spec is ecoboost + hybrid.
Yes, the car did suck by today’s standards. Per the Wiki article, 55 to 142 mile range, depending on which generation (2nd gen was NiMH) and which EPA method. But even then the cars were very well received, and many lessees fought and practically begged to keep the car.
They can delay it to 3027 for all I care. I'm currently averaging 48mpg in mixed driving which is a significant step up from my mid 90's Ranger which is about the closest thing to my Mav. (size wise) Just wish there was the long bed and SuperCab.
Like Toyota? LOL. The Turbo Tacoma Hybrid barely gets any MPG improvement at all! 23 city and 24 Hwy for the Tacoma Hybrid is HORRIBLE. Ford is doing it right on the maverick.
People using at home chargers will almost universally charge at night time during off peak hours. As for day time charging, if the grid can handle the crypto coin bros and the AI garbage, maybe room can be found for EV charging too.
Presently zero progress on increasing capacity of the grid. They can preach about making all EV and saving the planet (!?!?!?). But this would be no job for a politician.

Forget the planet, EV's have a ton of power and are fun to drive. Too late to fix what's already been damaged with the planet as the will just isn't there to do and pay for what needs to be done. Eventually the planet wide disasters will convince/kill us, but until then, smoky burnouts are your friend with an EV.

Also there is a hell of a lot more residential solar in my area and I live in Pennsylvania not California... So that is all an increasing grid capacity in and of itself. Exactly, I laugh when the plaid guys try and compare it to my gt500. I say ya your car is quick but quick is not the same as fast. Even had one guy try and bring it to the hpde days. He learned real quick that they are two different style cars. Overall the gt500 is just better faster once rolling plus can stop and turn.
