Once 2025's come available with 4K and AWD hybrids the ecoboost numbers will drop quite a bit.
This is only because Ford is doing it wrong with the Maverick. They should be doing it like they do with the F150, where the base engine is an ecoboost and the top spec is ecoboost + hybrid.

That was a great example of battery technology lagging the market. Lithium Ion cells are the only reason Tesla managed to make the EV workable. Upcoming battery tech may finally make EV mainstream.
Yes, the car did suck by today’s standards. Per the Wiki article, 55 to 142 mile range, depending on which generation (2nd gen was NiMH) and which EPA method. But even then the cars were very well received, and many lessees fought and practically begged to keep the car.

Still no official word on whether it would be a full electric Maverick, Ranger, or something else.
They can delay it to 3027 for all I care. I'm currently averaging 48mpg in mixed driving which is a significant step up from my mid 90's Ranger which is about the closest thing to my Mav. (size wise) Just wish there was the long bed and SuperCab.
Nothing is free and the full EV might be a step sideways. Can this country power them all? Barely holding our own now as it is.

Like Toyota? LOL. The Turbo Tacoma Hybrid barely gets any MPG improvement at all! 23 city and 24 Hwy for the Tacoma Hybrid is HORRIBLE. Ford is doing it right on the maverick.

People using at home chargers will almost universally charge at night time during off peak hours. As for day time charging, if the grid can handle the crypto coin bros and the AI garbage, maybe room can be found for EV charging too.

Five years from now, my hybrid Mav and my 2017 RAV4 will still be worth money. A five year old EV and a twelve year old EV will be hard to give away.
You completely made this up.

Sold my 2017 Mercedes B250E last year to Carvana for 3K more than I paid for it in 2021, Range had dropped 1%. Used the money to buy an EB Maverick.

Also sold my Porsche Boxster (ICE) back to Porsche for more than I paid and went out to buy a Rivian R1T EV.

Best buy today is an a 3-5 year old Tesla, Leaf, Bolt, etc due to the tax break counts on Used EV's from a dealer.

Yep I agree. Let the buyer make their choice. Pigeon hole me into a certain something, regardless what it is and I'll go somewhere else if its not what I want. Freedom :flag:

Presently zero progress on increasing capacity of the grid. They can preach about making all EV and saving the planet (!?!?!?). But this would be no job for a politician.
Forget the planet, EV's have a ton of power and are fun to drive. Too late to fix what's already been damaged with the planet as the will just isn't there to do and pay for what needs to be done. Eventually the planet wide disasters will convince/kill us, but until then, smoky burnouts are your friend with an EV.

You being from IL, I find it funny you are talking about the grid. WE have so much power, we sell it to other states.

You don't like this planet? So is there any evidence that the capacity of the grid has an increased in the last 10 years? Also there is a hell of a lot more residential solar in my area and I live in Pennsylvania not California... So that is all an increasing grid capacity in and of itself. But I do understand that can't do attitude I get it.

Oh boy... Yeah we all like choice. You don't really have choice now anyway not whatever choice you want. The government already tells Ford what they can make the government tells Ford what kind of mileage of fleet has to get the government tells Ford what kind of emissions they can put out dot has regs. But if you like the illusion of this pure freedom in your conquering the Open West or whatever enjoy I understand....

I didn't read the whole thread so if this has been said already ignore it. '

BUT when people talk about range its not quite correct. Remember you NOT supposed to go below 10 percent or recharge time takes a LONGER time to get up to 10 percent as that first 10 is done at a much slower rate according to buddy with Tesla model 3. . Plus you can ONLY go 80 percent on fast charger. So REALLY you're range if traveling is more like 30 percent less than what ever they state it is. So that 300 mile range is really 210 while traveling. He also told me that keeping the battery at 100 percent is not good for the battery. So he never charges his past 80 percent.

Google says ,,,, Yes, frequently charging an electric vehicle (EV) battery to 100% can shorten its lifespan.

Yes so it's more of a Ford issue than an EV issue. Having said that I find the acceleration of something like a Tesla to be a one-trick pony. I'm more into the overall performance. When I was younger I was more of a muscle car guy but I agree more with the theory that it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. Handling, steering feel etc are more important to me than they used to be. That's one of the reasons I don't consider an EV to be a sports car even if it's fast. They're too heavy for that role in my opinion. That doesn't mean they wouldn't be okay for my wife to drive back and forth to work though.
Exactly, I laugh when the plaid guys try and compare it to my gt500. I say ya your car is quick but quick is not the same as fast. Even had one guy try and bring it to the hpde days. He learned real quick that they are two different style cars. Overall the gt500 is just better faster once rolling plus can stop and turn.
If drag racing is your jam then they are an amazing car. Same I fell with hybrid vs ecoboost. If mileage was my jam then sure. But I also prefer the more power and decent mpg I get now. Even if I got the hybrid I’d still do like I do now see how much mpg I could get and also how bad it gets when driving like race car.
