Why did Fordpass do this to apple users

Okay, I'm having a problem with the Ford Pass app. I recently did an app update on my iPhone, and now instead of miles on the fuel level, I get a percentage. My wife, who has Android, still sees miles. I'm not sure if the app glitched for iPhone users or not, but please bring back the miles. Yeah, that % fuel left, while not totally meaningless, is a lot less informative than "miles to empty".

But you just know that someone relied on that "miles to empty", then towed a heavy trailer up a long hill and ran out of gas - and sued. It had to be something like that.

wait 5-7 years and ford will drop all ability to use Ford pass for vehicles that are 7 years old or older

Computer engineer's way of thinking? % of fuel in the tank (a known) has to be more accurate than an estimate of miles-to-empty (a guess), right?

(BTW - not an engineer and really want my mile-to-empty back...)

But I don't care what I have left in the tank; I care how far I can go with it. That is what will trigger me to plan for stopping for gas on the way. Engineer or not, "percentage full" is at least one equally-approximate math calculation from telling me what I need to know.

As I said in another recent thread on the exact same topic, both pieces of information are still in the vehicle systems, and it'd be nice if we could each just pick whether we want MTE or fuel level to show on the app. Ford didn't have to make it one or the other.

MTE is still right there on the dash, so I doubt it is a liability concern. OEMs have been showing MTE for years, and all they have to do is throw a legal disclaimer in a manual.

Anyway, in my experience, if you drive fairly consistently, the MTE readout is accurate enough - especially if you understand that it is dynamic and will change depending on how you are driving...

I add all the truck's maintenance history to my account at ford.com using a PC.

I don't use the app and have pulled fuse#11 to disable the tracking modem.

Well, if you know the capacity of your tank, you can calculate how many gallons you have left based on what's still in the tank. Then multiply that by your anticipated mpg to get a good estimate of your "miles to empty" - which the car already calculates and estimates for you.

Basically simple math, but I think most people would rather have the estimate on their phone when they log into FordPass rather than have to try to find the built in calculator function on their phone - or pencil and paper (yes, believe it or not, that's how we used to do math). I mean, we can generally generate a good WAG too, depending on how math-oriented we are.

I would just use the dash app!
