I just purchased a 2024 Maverick XLT with the 2.0 turbo engine. The window sticker says I'm supposed to be getting a combined 25 MPG but on the dash when I'm driving it, it says I'm only getting 13 MPG? I am only driving it around town and the only highway driving I've done is home from the dealership. I was irritated by the engine stop and have shut it off a few times but not enough that it would make any difference? I have less than 300 miles on it . And for the rude jerk, this is my first time ever on a site like this and judging from how many post's you have this must be your whole life and you could try being helpful instead of being an ass.

Time will tell. City is worse for the non-hybrid and depends on jack rabbit starts etc. if you want mpg I’m averaging low 40s on my hybrid with about 2/3 interstate at about 80mph. I’m still shaking my head in disbelief and smiling one year after purchasing it.

I just purchased a 2024 Maverick XLT with the 2.5 turbo engine. The window sticker says I'm supposed to be getting a combined 25 MPG but on the dash when I'm driving it, it says I'm only getting 13 MPG? I am only driving it around town and the only highway driving I've done is home from the dealership. I have less than 300 miles on it and am wondering if I made a huge mistake as I paid cash for it from an inheritance?
2.0 engine BTW. EcoBoost.
2.5L is the hybrid.

Anyway - you driving it in the combo of city & highway the sticker is referring to?
Doesn't sound like it, though even city should be better than that. But city mainly is worse than combined.

Not thru the breakin period referenced in the manual yet either though.

What value exactly are you reading for the 13 MPG, since there are several MPG figures you could be seeing?

Ditto's to your driving habits having a big influence. Is this your 1st turbo?
Also - using the AC already?
The estimate on sticker is based on yearly round avg. Summer worse, winter almost, spring/fall best.

300 miles is not really enough miles yet to get an idea. Try using an app to track your fillups. The dash number is just an estimate based on your driving and it it’s still learning….. I just got mine a few weeks ago and it first was displaying 15 mpg when I bought it. That number has climbed to 25.9 mpg after 2 fill ups and my last tank was 32.2 according to the app.

300 Miles ?? You still on the first tank of gas?
Was it completely full from the dealership?

If you are truly concerned, do your own test and not rely on the dash.
Fill up gas tank near an interstate. Jump on the interstate and drive 60MPH until
Gas is at half full and return back to same gas station.

Do math by hand.
Should be close to EPA numbers.

No way you're only getting 13 mpg. After a tank or two, I'm sure you'll be in the 20+ mpg range. I'm getting almost 25 with my Tremor and they get the worst mpg of all the Mavericks.

I think that’s literally impossible to only get 13mpg. With 300 miles not even a full tank of gas it hasn’t really had time to give you a good average. The consensus is between 25-30ish. A lot of variables in that though obviously, wait until you get about 1-1500 miles on it and then you should have a good baseline

Uh, welcome to MTC. This is what you have for us on your first post? No intro, no this is a photo of my truck, etc? Are we to share in your righteous indignation this your first post?

Thank you! Still trying to get through the manual too. It's my first new vehicle ever and I have a lot to learn.

Assuming you are not a troll:

First thing is RESET your calculated average MPG. The first few miles of any mavericks life include lots of idling between testing/diagnostics and logistics transfers between carriers trying to get your maverick to the dealership.
Additionally, you are in the engine break-in period so MPG will be slightly worse.
Once all this considered, report back

I’m at 2,500 miles on my 2.0 AWD and dash is displaying AVG MPG of 28.7 (I’m normally light footed)

I too would say give it a couple tank fill ups and everything should work its way to normal. Unless somehow someway you are the worlds most unlucky Maverick owner who has a bad engine or something like that (not saying it cant happen, just very very unlikely) even Maverick owners who tow trailers over the max weight have been averaging about that or better MPGs than what you are stating you are getting.

I think the truck needs some time to break in/learn and your numbers will go up. I agree with the other poster that most 2.0l ecoboost owners are averaging 25-30mpg combined. The last 2 or 3 fill ups of mine I have been closer to the 25 mark as I do more city driving than highway lately, but coming up I have a few multi-hour drives for some weekend vacations, so it will be a lot more highway and my numbers will go up.

I have also gotten my average to 33MPGs on a 4hr highway drive (each way) before and I only have 8k on my truck currently. So I wouldnt worry about it just yet.

On my eco awd I got almost 30 mpg when I was looking at the instant mpg indicator. Now I don't look at it anymore getting 28.5. Rural 2 lane roads stoplights ever few miles. 13 sounds very bad I got more than that on my F150 3.5 ecoboost.

Best to ignore the dash mpg until you have roughly 5,000 miles under your belt. I use Fuelio to track mileage of my truck. The worst gas mileage I ever got was just over 12MPG and that was pulling a trailer at interstate speeds.

Around town, I usually average in the low to mid 20s. On the highway, roughly 30. With the towing I did last week, my computer is taking time to readjust to not towing when estimating the time to empty. It's been fun watching my estimated miles to empty go up as I drive.

Give the truck time to break in and don't be heavy on the throttle. All you end up doing is waiting at the next light for traffic to catch you.

While I can understand the auto start/stop is annoying, if you do indeed do a ton of city stop-and-go driving, it will make a difference over time. Mine doesn't auto turn off nowadays because we are in the heart of summer heat and the a/c runs nonstop. For the most part, I don't mind it. That few seconds of engine off is a nice break from the constant vibration.
