Thanks, added it.

$21 for 5 qts right now, pretty solid deal!
Thanks for the napa info. I went online. Looked at the full synthetic 0w 20 napa brand. yes good price.
I looked at the bottle with magnified. I did not see the C962 A1 code on the bottle.
Where did you located the code on the NAPA bottle?

On the list, under NAPA, click the "spec sheet" link

thank you inline for your time. i only clicked on NAPA. That was my mistake.
That is a good price. I think should put the c962 a1 on the bottle. Also Napa 0 20w says it doesn't fit my vehicle, after making the inputs on their cite.

So the price for 6 qrts would be$26. I like that. I was sold on getting Havoline 6 qrt jug I think it is 25
bucks.

But when i seen people put that havoline in truck it looks a bit messy because container is a jug.

So thanks again.

Hybrid 2.5L oil requires spec of WSS-M2C962-A1. Known ones are:
It's also possible an ILSAC GF-6 rating would be OK, but I cannot completely confirm that. Of note, Pennzoil's best oil, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, does not have the Ford WSS-M2C962-A1 rating. I confirmed with Shell that Pennzoil Ultra Platinum does have the WSS-M2C962-A1 rating but their data sheet hasn't been updated.

Someone on BITOG did oil changes using Motorcraft 0W-20 and Motorcraft filter and wear/sample was excellent. I may just stick to Motorcraft oil from factory since I only do it once a year, although it is rather pricey, and I was wondering if there was a better non-OEM oil to choose.
I went to napa cite online. I then put in exact fit for the ford maverick 2023.
Then put motor oil in search window.
Napa motor oil was not one of the exact fits for the maverick.
Pennzoil and Castro come up as exact fit.

Yes I noticed this. Probably too early. I notice Valvoline also does not have the spec on their bottle or their site but when searching their spec sheets it's on there. It takes time for marketing to catch up with the engineering side.

The NAPA site also doesn't allow selection of hybrid or eco boost motors from what I remember so it's just a bad search site.

You can put in whatever you think is best! We have lots of choices.

My go to oil is Havoline in the box 6qt. semi or full synthetic, I have used it for years including the 2020 Escape 1.5 liter. Ford wants us to change oil on a yearly basis i suppose to satisfy the warranty. I being of advanced age have been averaging less than 3000 miles a year. Based on this fact i look for price plus meeting ford specs. The fact that the hybrid has a Atkinson engine is a whole new ball game for me! The Atkinson crankshaft turns only once as where the crank of the otto cycle engine turns twice. Atkinson also has a 13 to 1 compression ratio up in the diesel neighborhood. I have a lot to learn! add to this I did not know the hybrid is not a plug in. I like my Maverick while driving the idea of making electricity that helps power the car is very comforting. frank

Quaker State every 5k miles with a motorcraft filter.

Turbos are hard on oil.

Short drive cycles are hard on oil.

Stop and go is hard on oil.

Direct injection is hard on oil.

Nope. The Atkinson cycle is basically the same as an Otto cycle, but using an interesting camshaft trick. The original Atkinson design used a shorter intake stroke than exhaust, increasing the amount of useful energy that can be extracted from the fuel charge. Since that is very difficult to build, every version today uses a more normal Otto cycle engine but with a trick cam that holds the intake open way past BDC and far into the compression stroke. This pushes back a large percentage of the fuel mix into the intake. The amount of fuel mixture left to burn is a lot smaller than in an otto cycle engine, so they drastically raise the compression ratio. With the 13:1 compression, firing the spark after TDC and the hefty amount of fuel regurgitation back into the intake manifold, the fuel charge sees the same effective pressure as about 9:1 in an Otto cycle and as a result does not detonate on regular fuel. They also do a lot with the cam phasing over the rpm range to compensate for the varying ram-air effects in the intake. This does not work very well at low rpm with very low fuel quantities, so the idle rpm is raised to about 2,000rpm to get past that point.

This is actually a good description of the Atkinson Cycle engine, but there are two things that are blatantly incorrect.

1. Idle is 1250 RPM, not 2000.
2. The ignition timing is still well in advance of TDC - as much as 45-48°

Sorry for coming into this thread late, but I noticed that Walmart has mobil 1 advanced mileage in 12 qt boxes for 59 bucks. This looks like the way to go since we need 5.7 per change.

I don't see it on the list but it does meet WSS-M2C962-A1. It's hard to read on the box but it's there, and its on the 5qt jug. Anyone tried this oil?

Valvoline Advanced and Pennzoil Platinum exclusively for me. I love how 5 qts isn't enough so you have to pay an extra $10 for 1 qt.
You could always leave have a quart in.
Won't hurt anything. I know. Feels "wrong" but your truck would be 100% fine. Also, you can run at the bottom of the "normal" space on the dipstick. Some prefer to do that. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I fell for the Valvoline Hydrid oil sell. It is a respectable brand, hopefully it isn't just hype and marketing. Used a Motorcraft FL 910S filter, which is about 2" longer than the factory filter. I like that since it has more filter surface area. Changed at 7000 miles/30% oil life. Has anyone else used the Valvoline Hybrid oil?
