If by "better" you mean better AM radio reception, your issue is probably with the small antenna, not the stock radio.

No, I was trying to be funny. Not so much huh?
I guess my tastes are simple, I could listen to a small transistor radio on Am that was in the backseat.
Replacing a radio - or antenna - in a new vehicle that I just paid $25,000 for would never occur to me.
I don't need the sheet metal vibrating to listen to talk news and sports Am radio.
And for music, it has 6 speakers! Jeez people are spoiled.

This is pretty cool, I was wondering when a kit like this would come along. Thought about following what others have done with a Sync 4 APIM swap, but maybe I'll wait for this or see what MY25 Maverick has for potential display/APIM swaps.

I'm really excited about this. My biggest complaint in my Maverick is the infotainment system. It has to fully boot before I can plug in my phone or it will not recognize my phone. It doesn't send phone call audio output to the speakers on most of my calls, and I get an occasional dropped sound for a second and a "pop" from the rear speakers.
This should take care of all those issues and add wireless CarPlay. Worth it to me, even with the same size screen.

FYI that Pioneer # is $750 on crutchfield right now. I really kind of want to get one just for the extra camera option (one on the front with an on/off switch)

So we can add a front camera for off-roading?

I have a portable CD player that has a radio transmitter so I can tune it in on the radio. There is definitely lost sound quality compared to a built in player. I miss my Alpine.

Seems legit, and shows they have 2 in stock? If you pay with PP, you should be somewhat safe to order. If I had not already come up with a solution that makes me happy, I'd get it in a heartbeat. Still may at some point in the future, especially if I find out it can also function with one of the larger screened pioneer units. I'm not afraid to do some fabrication, but I'd need to know it works first. Hopefully, someone will take the plunge and find out soon

$500 for the mounting kit and wiring harness stuff, $680 for a Pioneer radio that fits it (DMHWC5700NEX). Plus however much additional the iDatalink Maestro piece is to retain the steering wheel control functionality? That's damn steep. Screen in the Mav is 8", but the Pioneer radio looks to be 6.8"? Part of me wonders what this offers to make it worth $1200+. I'd expect that sound quality might be a touch better than the factory radio, but this cost is 50% more than what I just bought an Alpine Optim8 (8 channels of DSP and amplification) for, and what the Alpine does to the sound of the factory radio cannot be described. It's seriously good. My thread on it is here.

If anyone researches the Pioneer head units that fit this kit, post up some info on what features might make worth considering. At that price, I don't think many owners would consider it.
