Seems legit, and shows they have 2 in stock? If you pay with PP, you should be somewhat safe to order. If I had not already come up with a solution that makes me happy, I'd get it in a heartbeat. Still may at some point in the future, especially if I find out it can also function with one of the larger screened pioneer units. I'm not afraid to do some fabrication, but I'd need to know it works first. Hopefully, someone will take the plunge and find out soon :D
It may very well be legit.
I asked the seller if they could provide actual photos instead of the same one you can pull off the MetraOnline and Axxess web sites.
Since they had two for sale, i asked if they were a retailer/reseller of Axxess/Metra.

The response got: "Why?"

Conversation over.
And i thought I was the worst salesperson ever. Stiff competition is there.

Seems that seller is out of Marietta, GA too.
Could have been a quick sale and I could have been providing first hand info after local pickup.

I think the biggest feature would be for a DSP capable head unit that doesn't have a "factory EQ curve/cuts to deal with, and one that doesn't glitch like the factory head unit does. I can see the appeal in the right circumstances. I have no need for at this point, but it would have been tempting for me in the beginning for sure.

$500 for the mounting kit and wiring harness stuff, $680 for a Pioneer radio that fits it (DMHWC5700NEX). Plus however much additional the iDatalink Maestro piece is to retain the steering wheel control functionality? That's damn steep. Screen in the Mav is 8", but the Pioneer radio looks to be 6.8"? Part of me wonders what this offers to make it worth $1200+. I'd expect that sound quality might be a touch better than the factory radio, but this cost is 50% more than what I just bought an Alpine Optim8 (8 channels of DSP and amplification) for, and what the Alpine does to the sound of the factory radio cannot be described. It's seriously good. My thread on it is here.

If anyone researches the Pioneer head units that fit this kit, post up some info on what features might make worth considering. At that price, I don't think many owners would consider it.
Hey man.... trust me ... I have been following your thread already :)
I wish I had seen it before i purchased a Kicker Key 200.4/500.1 combo.
Not that I have to go with Kicker still ...i'm good for switching up last second.

I agree about the price of the Pioneer head unit + Axxess/Metra add-ons being too high

What's wrong with the factory radio?
Six speakers, I can't even turn it up all the way - way too loud.
The voices on AM news stations just boom.
And music sounds fine - at about 1/8 volume.
What's wrong with the factory radio?

This thread is not for you :) Many of us have much higher standards for sound quality(not necessarily loudness). Its great that you're happy with yours, and I wish I was in the same boat as you. It would have saved me a lot of money. Once you hear a proper SQ setup, factory stereos are like nails on a chalkboard, lol.

Its about hearing the spectrum of sound clearly without having to turn the darn volume up to 29. Low's, mid's and tweet's sound sweet with a well balanced sound system.

They're the foodies of radios.

I'm with you, except that my XL had the worst factory sounding system I've heard/owned in 25+ years. (including poor audio during phone calls) I just swapped the front door speakers for $70 and that satisfied me.

There is a spectrum. I can get my fix on the cheap end luckily.

Yeah, I'm old enough to remember the car radios of the 60s and 70s - 5 long mechanical pushbutton "presets" with a rubber band changing the stations.
With just 1 or maybe 2 speakers - and that was fine for me.
These guys going down the street with the sheet metal rattling would
have been horrified.
But it was a different time. We just didn't expect so much.
Your first very used car may not have even had a radio.
Your first new car was after you had accomplished something, when you could afford it maybe in your late 30s or 40s.
Now everyone figures they deserve a new car right away.
Then that brand new radio ("sound system") isn't good enough.
It's a different world.
Rant over, got to go yell at the kids to keep off my grass.
I feel so old.

The Maverick radio and screen suck
So we adapted.

Replaced some speakers and added a subwoofer.

I'm currently satisfied.

I have a similar story but with home theater setups. Fortunately I'm not picky at all with my car audio because I only spend about 4 hours a week in it, but I got into home theater stuff years ago. I built a legit basement theater in my previous house with some pretty decent sound and an acoustically transparent screen. Now I'm screwed. I absolutely hate watching good movies with tv speakers or even a separate center channel mounted above or below the screen. What a difference that one feature made for me.

I was hoping it was a CD player 😬
Ok gramps! We'll get you one when we go out to get your new buggy whip! 😂

I wonder if one of those USB cd rom units for computers would be recognized and able to play music? Kind of doubt it because it's a different format unless you rip to MP3.

Oh and sorry Redline I know all that is greek to you! j/k 🤣

There seems to be a new very good reason why Maverick owners will need to get rid of the Ford Sync system, future Ford has plans on sending advertising to your vehicle through the Sync system while your driving. When my Maverick starts playing commercials I will disable the unit. A replacement would be great..

Patents don't automatically equate to plans. Sometimes patents are just to claim the idea so that your competitors cannot.

Patents don't automatically equate to plans. ABOUT 95% OF THE TIME patents are just to claim the idea so that your competitors cannot.

Fixed it for you. Ha! I totally agree. Many large corporations have thousands upon thousands of patents for all sorts of stuff that they NEVER plan to develop, but want control of "just in case". Or so they can license the idea to a competitor if the competitor is willing to pay enough for it.
