Today took advantage of Ford’s amazing incentives and traded in my much loved Maverick.

Our 22 Hybrid w/ Lux pkg + moonroof and slide rear window was easily one of the most enjoyable vehicles I’ve ever owned.

traded in a minivan too that was a little upside down on loan so my final numbers won’t matter to you. But here’s the incentives I received on a 23 Lariat Lightning Extended Range:

$79,785 MSRP
-5,000 Ford Cash
-2,000 Private Ford Offer
-2,856 Dealer discount
-5,000 Colorado instant EV Tax credit
-500 additional Dlr discount (“I’ll buy if you come down another $500 and throw in a free spray-in bed liner)
-7,500 Federal “ “
(= $22,356 OFF MSRP!)
PLUS 36mo @1.9%!! Promo FoMo Credit!

And since people will be wondering, with my maverick and minivan trade allowance, minus their respective payoffs, $48,740.64 out the door, including my local sales tax, doc fee, reg. fee.

I think I did great. If you’re considering a lightning to replace your Mav- this is a great time for purchasing one. Obviously a much bigger truck but very awesome.

The Lightning is not for me, but I hope you get a lot of enjoyment, practical usage, and value from your purchase. I assume this was on the dealer’s lot, or did you order it?

Congrats! Well, you got the right one. Those colder climates really zap the usable battery capacity and having the extended range model makes up for that, a little.

Not sure if it was negotiated in the deal but make sure to install the higher amperage "PRO" charger in your garage. You will thank me later when you see expected charge to 100% is 8-10 hours on standard level 2 charger.

We have 2 local ford dealers. Both have about 15 Lightning on the lot from Pro to Platinum trims… they are (were) way overpriced if you ask me

Thank you, we did get the ford charger you referenced. We have an existing level 2 (wife has an ID.4) so we’ll see about swapping them out.

Yes exactly right. I’ve had several EVs already and unless they have the heat pump heaters can drain a lot. Side note- Our ID.4 has a heated windshield which I think every EV should have or at least a cold weather packages.

The whole windshield? That is pretty cool. Makes a lot of sense too.

Did you get heated steering wheel/seats? Ventilated? Those are some of my must haves for a full size truck. Ventilated seats are amazing!

If fully loaded full size trucks were still in the 50k range overall or if they ever get back to that range, I'll likely consider it in the future as well. Anything above that is just too much for me.

Is that about 11k with Mav and upside down miniV trade in values?

If you plan on towing anything, your charged battery dwindlles down considerably. One guy on YouTube was averaging 330 per charge when he wasn't towing anything. He loaded up a car onto a trailer to move it, and his mileage went down to 90. And in ice cold weather, the battery loses it's charge considerably.

How long is it going to take you to charge it when you're traveliing and it needs to be recharged?
For me, EV's aren't worth it. I'll keep my hybrid Lariat.

Good luck with your new Lightning.
