Well I did something strange yesterday. Probably something that's rarely done. I mean hell, we've got people driving until the truck catches fire, driving with their eyes closed and engine noises.

I actually checked the oil level and condition at the gas station. It had been a while, I'll admit and 7000 miles since the last change. The oil looked good, level was good and smell was good. 10,000 (Hybrid) miles 'aint no thing as long as you check your damn oil.

Thumbs up if you've checked your oil in the last month.

It has something to do with that metal stick-thingy in the middle of the engine.
I'll look, I think it was only available on the Lariat

I always questioned if the time spent getting gas was long enough for the oil to run back down to the bottom end so you get an accurate reading.

Probably is since back in the day it was SOP for gas station attendants to check the oil.

My wives' Q3 burns oil like its a job, so I check that every other week or so, check the maverick as well at the same time. Always right where it should be, but you never know. I change it around 7k, around the time it starts to get darker.

Check soon AFTER an oil change.
Many reports of over filling.

5.7 ≠ 6 just because you or the guy doing it doesn't want a partial container laying around.
I always check my oil after an oil change, I have had it short a quart & over a quart already. Still check it every 1000 miles or so, an old habit.

🤣 In all seriousness, I knew someone who bought a brand new Toyota, and fried the engine at around 30k miles because she never changed the oil. Meanwhile, I'm over here changing oil on our explorer and maverick probably every 3k miles. Do I have to change it that early? No, but I'm obsessed with taking care of things.

The explorer is only 8 years old with 30k miles on it, but I'm already planning on getting the transmission fluid and coolant changed out in the near future.

I'm of the mindset that there really isn't many truly awful cars these days, but there are a ton of terrible owners.
