Looks like Tesla direction, more and vertical screen and fewer buttons. Cheaper to build and less desirable IMO.
Edit: The big takeaway in the article is the new announcement of even more Maverick production. Perhaps we don't need so many Bronco Sports.

100 threads on this forum of people bitching that the screen is too small. Ford plans to install a bigger screen. 100 pending threads bitching about a bigger screen...

I think those are mostly people with phones in their hands on Instagram. 😡
Yes, I see that at every other stoplight in my rearview mirror.
I was just thinking of other Mavericks/Rangers running into me... :ROFLMAO: 😜

In my first few weeks of ownership. As i was creeping down my alley, trying to change the tune on the USB. My Mav "SCOLDED" me for trying to do so... o_O:LOL:

To me the screen looks like maybe its got the 360camera setting on and it could be a door handle or some object next to it that the camera is showing. Does not appear to be a normal screen with HVAC or radio or anything like that. I understand that it could be diagnostic/R&D mode, but looks to me like its showing a camera view of something.

But if this is the new screen of the refresh I am iffy about it. I like the fact that it would be a larger screen, but if they are taking away physical buttons of simple everyday items (such as HVAC) to make it all touch screen... I am not a big fan of that. Seems like you take your eyes off road more often/longer to deal with touchscreen than regular buttons. But the current screen design bugs me because it seems like they just found parts from a bin and put it together and didnt think about like symmetry or anything. I can 100% understand the license plate issue not being centered because of trailer hitch, but why couldnt the screen fill the whole space?

Anywho, cant wait to see the reveal soon. Is there any rumor about when they are expecting to reveal it?

Ew.

Vertical screen.

Welp, cross the new design of my interest list.
I could have told you this was coming. From the Mach E to the F-150 and the new Ranger. Only Bronco is the only one with a horizontal screen.

That could be an engineering add-on screen or Ipad, etc. for testing purposes, just like the gauge pod shown on the driver's A pillar....

I hate seeing the Maverick slowly become a $40-50k truck. The whole idea was to make an affordable truck that was great on gas and can run 99% of the errands most people do.

I do like techy stuff but hate when controls go touch screen in a car, I'm not going thru 3 menus and confirm screens just to turn up the a/c. And repair costs? $1k for a $20 lcd if it cracks.

I'm not necessarily against a larger screen but I hope it's not like my wife's 2022 Edge. In the Edge all climate controls are touchscreen only with no physical buttons including heated seats. It's really frustrating and dangerous to have to look at the screen to make any adjustments to heat or AC. Also in the Edge the touchscreen controls can sometimes be laggy which makes it even more dangerous and frustrating.

If it ends up being anything like the Edge with no physical controls for climate control then I absolutely will not be updating to a newer model even if they offer an AWD Hybrid version.

It amazes me that manufacturers don't know or care about how much safer physical buttons are.

The "screen" in that image seems off to me. It looks like it's on the wrong plane -- I think it's a reflection or something else, too. Might also be a diagnostic laptop perched up there with one side (the right) blocked by that camouflage netting or another open laptop.
