EDIT: It may indeed be Sync 4, see later posts. Bottom bar is same but top bar is Sync 4 style.
This is not Sync 4. This is the new Ford Digital Experience. Ford announced they are ditching Sync and moving to Android Automotive. See more here: https://9to5google.com/2024/01/22/ford-android-automotive-2024-gallery/. Android Automotive is not to be contused with Android Auto which is just the Android version of CarPlay. Android Automotive is a new operating system that supports CarPlay, Android Auto, and lots of apps you can download.

Here's Android Automotive - looks like the spy shot.

Oh great. Android has always been a glitchy platform in my experience.

Unfortunately, it looks like the rear view mirror is still mounted very low. I was hoping they would move it up onto the black box like a lot of other manufactures are doing.

Better map clarity is the biggest reason for a larger screen. The normal icons are easy to read, and not an issue at all.
I don't disagree with that, just offering a point of view. I've used my iPhone 13 Pro Max for all GPS Navigation before my Maverick. I'm 61 years old with less than perfect eyesight and have no problem seeing the map on the iPhone.

This is so true. The big screen sounds impressive, But I look at it when backing up and when looking at a map.
The big screen will sell more cars and it cost very little to go from an 8" to a 13" so it makes since for Ford to put a +13" screen in everything. But I as a user will not gain much. If the truck had a 360 camera system a bigger screen would be of use. If there were better maps maybe that could be helped by a bigger screen, but the maps I have seen on bigger screens dont take advantage of the screen size. But most of the time the screen just shows what music is streaming and 8" is plenty for that.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I prefer the smaller screen & cubby....perfect spot to stow my wallet while driving. And I don't get the screen envy...why is bigger better? Maybe in the case of displaying maps, a bigger screen might be advantageous, but for what is typically displayed on the Mav screen, I can see everything just fine, and I have bad eye sight! 🤠
I would have agreed with you but for the lack of functionality and the slow, laggy nature of the current display. It's almost unusable in its current state if you are someone used to rapidly responding technology. I am not, but my best friend owns a Tesla 3 which I have put a few thousand miles on. Once you get used to the speed and quality of that, it's like regressing from the newest Surface Pro to a 10 year old tablet

They could likely improve the software without a larger screen though

Size & functionality are not mutually exclusive, or at least, shouldn't be. The context of my opinion centers around screen size. Improved functionality/quality is always a desirable outcome, being larger is not.
