Does anyone know if the new screen will be taller than the previous years or just wider? I can't tell from the picture. I hope it's at least a little taller.

I got the same sh*t when I had my 1998 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L SuperCab.
I was told I had a TOY truck.

The so called Truck Guys must measure they d*ck sizes by the size of their trucks.
You know the trucks that can't fit in parking spaces and need a ladder to get into.

FYI: The Maverick is only 2.3" shorter than my 1998 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L SuperCab with a 6' Bed but is slightly wider and taller.

And I like that I can park my Maverick in my garage just like I did with the Ranger.

My brother-in-law said, "What does your truck want to be when it grows up?" I'm like, "A gas sippin', money savin', already paid for, 45 mpg drivin', everything I need truck. When's your morbidly obese truck gonna go on a diet and lose some weight?" :ROFLMAO:

But seriously, 99.5% of the time both of our trucks are empty. He's got a huge truck payment and uses almost 3 times as much gas as my hybrid does. When it comes to smarts, I think I know who's winning this battle. I understand some guys NEED a bigger truck. Most (including my brother-in-law) don't.

I say it all the time. I've used my Maverick for doing more stuff than what 90% of "real truck" owners have done with theirs. And mine is lowered too 😆

Just because I have way too much time on my hands during lunch, but here's what I see between the pre and post refresh Maverick (aside from the obvious C-clamp from the pre-refresh Mav). Don't really know if it helps with the discussion on this thread.

This is exactly the reason I decided to get a pickup, but hesitated for many years. At some point all the pickups turned into Bratz Dollz for "Big Boys". Giant fronts that look like lip filler, stripper heel height lift kits so high you need a 35in+ vertical jump just to get in, covered in "No Fear and Motorsport" stickers, but truck beds always empty, burning gas, haulaing ass, and nothing else.

I just needed something with good gas mileage that can haul a few sheets of plywood/drywall/yard trash, and pull a small motorcycle camper. Ticks all the boxes for my needs, good gas mileage, and I don't look like I'm driving a midlife crisis mobile.

I often read but seldom post. The redo finds me irritated. Why? Because I am a big Ford Truck guy, yet, across the board, Ford seemingly keeps making decisions that are, in my view, stupid:

The Maverick outsold the Santa Cruz. Why? One reason is because the Maverick is more truck like. What does Hyundai do with their refresh? They make the Santa Cruz more tough looking. What does Ford do? It makes the Maverick more car like.

And while the rest of the industry, especially in Europe, is headed BACK to knobs, switches, and buttons, the new center screen shows a suite of HVAC controls.

The redone grille *looks* cheap and flimsy, and I am not a fan of the bumper treatment. The rear bumper shows little improvement: if only they had gone with the prototype bumper that we saw pictures of, before the original Mav was launched.

How Ford can continue to make blunders like this is a head scratcher. The new Ranger is nice, but I find it a little too "soft," and it's simply too big.

I guess I will have nothing to trade up into, which forces me to look to Toyota.

If this refresh it how its going to be, looks like I'll be paying mine off before trading in. (aka, I'm holding on to it)

This would probably help keep resell values up on the originals.

I'm saving this burn for the day I get a Maverick. I'm gonna need it working for a construction company; already got enough crap back when I had a Focus and with my current Escape. lol

But I also agree that most pickup owners don't need a pickup. They usually haul air or a tonneau cover in the bed and tow their shadow. Most 1/2 ton guys (including the ones that "need" a long bed) wouldn't even use a third of a Ridgeline's capabilities. What's funny is that a lot of the supers and higher up guys at my company got these bog ol' 1/2 tons and HD trucks with lifts, giant hitches, and AT tires that a pavement princesses, yet the foremen all have either old single cabs or a modern midsizer.

A midsize can cover most work needs, and compact can cover all the needs for those who just want the convenience of a topless trunk. This is why when my Escape dies (and assuming my household doesn't grow past 4), I want to get a Maverick. I'm even growing on the idea of just getting a FWD hybrid if it happens before an AWD hybrid comes out.

Ok

1716492741329-6w.jpg

There 13 inch one and 11 one they have
I couldn't find anything on Ford's site about the screen size except the diagonal measurement (8" for Maverick & 13.2" for Escape). 13" could be 10"x8.3", 9"x9.3", or 12"x5". Obviously it's not 9x9.3, or it would have been a square.

According to my ruler, the Maverick's is 7"x4.25" and according to screen protectors on Amazon, the Escape's is about 11"x7". So the Escape's is about 3" taller & 4" wider. Glorious!
