My 2009 Mustang GT still shines like new. I will, on occasion, hand wash, clay bar, and wax the paint.
Mostly I use the soft cloth car wash. I live just north of Cincinnati. Mostly garage kept but do drive in winter sometimes.
After 15 years of automatic car washes, it still shines like new.
There's one data point.

I know this is late but I had a 2011 Cruze before our Mavericks and I had an unlimited car wash plan (that used brushes) the majority of it's life. At the end I did have bad swirl marks but they weren't really visible after waxing. I had very minor rust along the bottom skirts and a few small spots in the wheel well but other than that, I always called mine "The whitest Cruze in town" as it was always super white lol. I got the unlimited plan for my XL and I use it at least once a week in the winter. The Cruze ended up having 250k miles and I traded it in for the Xl.

Automatic car wash? NEVER! I could go on and on about why, but clearly too many opinions here.

I run mine through once a month, usually on pay day. I splurge for the nice one with the spray wax and whatnot. Keeps the water beading off and haven't seen any scratches yet.

I have run our Maverick through the car wash with brushes and it has been fine in my opinion.

In car wash opinions, especially ones with brushes spinning about, there are two groups of folks.

Group 1. Folks like me, I just don't care if the paint is getting micro scratches. I would rather run it through the car wash every few days than spend time and effort washing it by hand. I never notice the micro scratches. I also don't detail my car to make it look absolutely perfect. Also in my world parking lot dings and rock chips are going to happen and I learned early on in life to not obsess about them or I would go nuts.

Group 2. Folks that care about making their cars look absolutely perfect and debate the wonders of clay bars, ceramics, waxes and such. They would never take their car to a car wash and ruin it with spinning brushes that have glass and rocks and other paint scratching monsters left by other cars. These folks always seem to have a car that shines much better than mine did when I bought it and their effort really shows. They always look ready to enter a car show.

If I had the best of both worlds I would be in group 1 and my car would look like it came out of group 2. But at last the real world kicks in and I have chosen group 1. I wont be winning any car shows but that is OK with me because I have time to do other things.

The choice is yours, which way will you go......
Do you really wash your car " every few days"? I wash my vehicles twice a year,by hand at home, spring and fall. My 14 year old Michigan vehicles,a ram and caravan have minimal rust.hope my maverick holds up this well!

I take mine to a car wash at least once a week. the one i go to is really high end and i have a monthly membership for unlimited car washes for $40. One wash is $27 so the membership is a no brainer since i go more than twice a month. No major damage, but it can put swirl marks from the brushes. I don't really care about small scratches though personally. It is a truck and gives it character.

That was a really well thought out response :) Thank you!

In the "messier" times of year I do. I have the unlimited plan at the local car wash and for me it is simple to just run it through the car wash.

Same here, two of my sons live off gravel roads. I usually wait until after I visit them to visit the car wash. The unlimited plan comes in pretty handy.

I have washed my month old Maverick once so far.
Just the pressure wand - from a distance.
I haven't washed my 2001 Ranger since about 2005.
Other than rainwater.
It's still shiny.

Does anyone run their Maverick through the automatic, brushed car washes? Does it work ok, without hurting the truck?
If you have a light-color vehicle, any visible scratches from the brushes may not show. If you have a darker color, it's more likely to show the scratches.

If your vehicle is ceramic coated, usually most of the dirt will be washed off with a touchless wash, because not much dirt will stick to the ceramic coating.
