I see someone said to check Fordpass. Never knew that. It tells me that the powertrain control module lost communication with the fuel pump control module. All I have to do is reset the Inertia Fuel Shutoff switch. Owner guide should help me with that issue. I think I like having a carburetor better on my old Ford.
Well, I love the fuel injection till I don't.

When doing errands in winter, it is best practice to start with your most faraway destination first.
If that destination is close by, just drive around 15 minutes before going to it.
Winter is an engine killer, whether ICE or Hybrid, when used impatiently.

I am a programmer by trade, mostly web and mobile. I've enjoyed tech and what you can do with it to a larger degree than most.

That said, after 25 years in the trade, I feel we are working tech into places it doesn't belong and/or doing it in unintelligent ways. Many times I find I want the old analog version back.

Major issues:
- Any appliance or tool (vehicle counts) should have its core functionality & systems segregated from its tech fluff. Seems too many times this isn't done or isn't done properly allowing misbehaving fluff features to disable core functionality. Battery drain etc.
- The blurring line between owning a good and paying for a service. Too many companies seem happy to sell product that is useless without services or even remove free features from a product on the fly. They cover in fine print contracts they know no one reads. There needs to be a more clear line for what can / cannot change on goods bought & paid for.
- User servicability. There are lawsuits pushing this forward thankfully.

There are many more issues, but it's getting a bit bonkers.

If no alternator then how does the 12 volt battery charge? I thought the hybrid part only charges the hybrid battery
The "hybrid part" DOES only charge the high voltage battery, also know as traction battery. There is NO alternator on the hybrid model.
The hybrid battery charges the 12 volt battery thru a DC to DC converter.
There are HUNDREDS of YouTube videos that TRY to explain this. Please watch some of them.

That is so correct. I am amazed that so many people think wind chill affects a car. It has no effect on inanimate objects. Only warm blooded creatures.
Yes and No.

Wind is a conveyor belt for heat.
The more wind speed you have, the more heat carried away you have from both living and not living things.

Anything warm, your body, or your engine cools down faster in wind than in calm.

Wind, however, can not and will not chill you, or your car to below ambient temperature. It’s simply a case of wind “chills” you down to ambient more quickly because the “heat conveyor belt” is running more quickly.

If an engine is warmer than ambient, it experiences “wind chill”. An engine already at ambient doesn’t. Technically the same effect applies to humans, but LIVING humans are usually above ambient.

What “Wind Chill” or “Feels Like” temperature really means is:

While actual temperature (example 10) remains unchanged, you and anything warm in a breeze will lose heat at the same rate as if it were (5) in still air.

Since early 2000’s Mercedes has used a 2 nd accessory battery about size of a utv battery under hood that is for accessories and electronic fluff we all require nowadays. And if that was too cold or low , you got a message saying so after startup and your heated seats or subwoofer amp or convenience lighting or other fluff didn’t work until the engine ran long enough to recharge that battery and or carry the load , once the starting battery was up to a certain idle voltage.
Sounds like all vehicles are getting to the point of needing this.
The problem being ford and every other manufacturer use all modules for all systems !
In other words nowadays to save money , audio/ security engineers have leftover memory storage in their module and body control module engineer need an additional storage area for his control code for heated seats or climate it might use the other sound system module to control something you would think is in the body control module . So all this stuff has to power up in certain orders to and talk on the “can” buss network in order for the ecm to let the bcm unlock security to unlock starter in bcm to then allow scm to shift after the tcm sees the vehicle running so that can tell the scm it’s ok to shift and that’s after whatever else is programmed from the other modules as safety locks …srs, acas, etc…….

gotta love technology !
I’m starting to restore my 87 bronco and 92 centurian( 4 door bronco)
I can put Bluetooth stereo in them and be happy with basic fuel injection and none of the other fluff!
I’m keeping the tremor for a daily though since it gets twice the mileage .
Just not gonna work on the electronics side of it. Unless I really have too.
Being in so cal and it only got to 50 last night I don’t have the cold issues as of yet.
But probably would keep an extra lithium jump pack charged up and in the house to take with and just plug it in via 12v port to back trickle when you have leave vehicle and see if that keeps the voltage up on main start battery far the cold errand runs.
I know lithium don’t like cold but if it’s in the house till you got to go to make a run . Then plug it in with the cig lighter cord to maintain some current one way or another might have a chance.
Otherwise might have to do the old battery and block warmer install with a new GOOD aftermarket battery like we used to do in Minnesota .just keeping the car plugged in till you leave.

Happy to report my 2023 hybrid Lariat fired right up today. after all the posts about no-go etc., just thought i would share my MAV fired right up. hasn't been used for a couple of weeks, zero temperatures here in the Cleveland area. I am grateful. It is garaged, but detached and not heated.

Worst thing was i had to go out in the cold. The App wouldn't let me start it and i do not have remote start on the key chain. Minor inconvenience ,

This is the extent of what the owner's manual says about cold weather:

COLD WEATHER
PRECAUTIONS
The functional operation of some
components and systems can be affected
at temperatures below approximately
-13°F (-25°C).

I'll add that running your car to warm it up in the winter is based on exactly nothing.

Weighing in after 10 days parked outside, the last 5 in sub-zero conditions: fired up on 1st try. Different sounds, brushed off as ‘normal’ (perhaps delusional ). Relieved that all’s good here.

Go back to your FordPass app and click on the service engine soon warning. It should tell you what fault it detected.
You don't need to get under the back seat (unless you mean that's where you keep the cables). There is a positive jump post for the 12V battery under the hood - red cover below the fuse box. That's the way the owners manual recommends it be jumped.
And there is a negative post to the right of the positive post. The Negative Post looks like a bolt fastened to the fender.

2022 manual page 312 Maintenance Section paragraph Battery Management system and Electrical Accessory Installation.
Also mentioned in threads. Attaching things to the negative post can result in the BMS which is located on the neg post in mis reading the SOC.

JUST GET GROUND ON BODY MAYBE WHERE NEG CABLE IS BOLTED TO BODY. I just use the jump posts under the hood.
Negative post is to the right of the positive post by the fuse box under hood. Positive post is red. Neg post looks like bolt in the fender

You switch on a Hybrid Maverick. There is no way to start the engine, it decides that.
If u have the cab heater turned on my experience is that when below zero the engine turns on immediately when turning on the ignition

I always let my truck run until you hear the rpm

Kinda glad I didn't go with the hybrid for this reason. Too many unknowns as of yet. Currently cold as hell here in Buffalo New York and my 23 2.0L starts every thyme.
So far my 23 hybrid starts at 30 below 0. I do let it warm up about 5 min before driving off to aid in defrosting. The square tires are irritating but after couple blocks round again.
