Should I just buy a better 12v battery at this point?

The small factory battery is simply drained by just the after cycle communications. I've been tracking mine for a while .... with a nice big H5 AGM en route.
Link to the battery you bought?

Went with a low cost AGP Type 47/H5 from Weize: Weize AGM

Tracking shows it out for delivery, so I'll have it installed most likely tomorrow. It's a wet, rainy day here in Southern NJ. - And low and behold, just received my first Deep-Sleep message since running around all day Monday, and charging to 100% on Saturday.

BT indicates battery was at 61% currently, but momentarily dipped to 34% shortly after arriving at work this morning.

that battery looks like it's more than 1.5" longer than the stock group 99 battery. are you sure it's going to fit? I saw a thread where a guy installed a significantly larger battery in a hybrid and had to modify the battery enclosure on the truck to make it fit. to his credit, though, the factory strap still secured in place.

btw there's a lot of battery details here: https://www.batteryequivalents.com/bci-battery-group-size-chart.html

that's how I knew what you were buying was larger, and by how much.

If you have the means of doing a cranking test on the EB 2.0, maybe you should test the battery. For example with MY2023, the cranking test shows this:

1703711840316.png

The cranking voltage < 9.6V indicate poor battery condition. The engine still cranks, but it should be checked and/or replaced. The cranking voltage should not fall under 9.6V with a good battery.

Then there is the charging test for MY2023:

1703712309041.png

The charging voltage of 15.18V indicates overcharging. The maximum charging voltage should be 14.7±0.05V. This actually indicates some issue with the PCM module, described in my PP. The additional 0.4V charging will certainly shorten the already weak battery and may had been the initial reason for issues with the battery. In which case, the PMC should be replaced.

But the dealer didn't believe so and instead, just recharged the battery in two days. I can do that in a half a day including de-stultification cycle as well...
that high voltage is your truck trying to charge your bad battery.

late model Fords can hit 15.2 volt pretty easily. I see it all the time in my Bronco, but I don't have a voltmeter on the instrument panel of my Maverick.

Looks like he can? Tech Tye stuffed an Optima DH5 in his, same 9.5'' long battery. He had to pull off the floor trim to do it. Looks like a pain in the arse, but kudos to him for trying it.

So, the aftermarket batteries we know will fit the hybrid:

AC Delco LN1 AGM - Drop-in replacement
Diehard Gold T4 - Drop-in replacement
Diehard H4-XEV -Drop-in replacement
Optima DH5 - Have to remove/replace the underseat trim piece
Whatever this is - Fits... Makes me nervous just looking at it.
(Edit, Ray's right, guy on Amazon pulled it off) Weize H5 AGM - Have to remove/replace the underseat trim piece

I'll take a picture as I install & afterwards.... fingers crossed. Somebody on Amazon installed one in their Hybrid, and posted a picture, so it should fit...but may need to bend the tabs in the tray.

It read 12.7v out of the box, and I just topped it off to 100% full. Waiting for my 2mo Forscan license to arrive, to set to 60amp capacity...... taking forever to arrive.

My cordless Dremel had a tough time cutting the tabs, so I scored them and pounded them down with a small hammer. - Which lowers them to the height of the balance of the plate.

Popping out the plastic panel makes it a LOT easier to place the larger battery in the tray.

No other modification needed, and panels are easily pulled off, and snapped back into place.

Waiting the 8 hours after BMS reset, however the transmission period barely dropped the voltage or SoC.

My truck has been sitting at the dealership for almost 3 weeks for no start issues related to the 12v battery. The first time I took it in they said battery was bad and replaced it and sent me away. 5 days later it wouldn't start again so had it towed to the dealership. Apparently they can't find any issue. No draws, no updates to be done, no fuse issues, no harness issues, and the battery is fine. So they want me to come pick it up. What? It literally won't start without being jumped?

I've seen people on this forum buy a better battery and put it in the truck and they say it fixed their problem. Should I just do that? I shouldn't have to spend $200+ on a battery for my brand new vehicle?
Define better.

Thankfully I've not experienced any issues with mine but I understand the frustration of people that do or have had the issue. My "opinion", which might not count much is, I think the root of the issue may be the software in the BMS and other components is not charging the battery to a high enough level. So if that concept is true, how long will it be before a higher rated or larger battery is drawn down to the level that causes the issue and your right back where you were at? Just a concept/thought.

I agree with this potential source of problem, software rather than hardware (battery). Frustrated with Ford not resolving this issue with an otherwise great truck. Ford has the diagnostic tools and engineering to solve this problem. Today I am again dealing with low battery and FordPass Alert messages.
