So your 2nd battery is same as original (non AGM) but you also changed forscan settings to match (from AGM to flooded). Did you change those settings after it started to crap out again or at time of install ?

And...eventually you might try AGM ?

I find all of this crazy. How is this all even an issue ? My confidence in my 3 month old truck making it through winter is about a 3/10.
After it started to crap out, like literally yesterday. I've gone one day on these settings without burning the truck down, so... yay?

The plan is AGM eventually, but I want to be sure I'm not going to kill it too. I'm buying that one, not Ford. I'll try to get another Motorcraft when the current one inevitably dies. And if it somehow doesn't die with these settings, cool. Fixed.

It's super frustrating, I waited a year so I could have a truck that strands me places 6 months later. Everything else about it is great though, and I found myself missing it when I had to drive a loaner. I have little faith in Ford fixing their stuff, the silence on this issue is deafening. So, we've gotta do it. And that starts with sharing notes and experimenting.

Got it. Keep us posted. Thankfully I'm the only one driving this thing but eventually others in house will need to, and the fact that it might not start....sucks. 0 confidence.

Need some automotive blog / news agency to pick this up and run a story on it. Maybe it would force a statement from Ford.

Deep Sleep IS NOT A DEAD HYBRID

Hyperbole
You're right. it's a mechanism to keep the battery from draining further. It's a warning, an indication that the battery voltage has dropped below a certain level, 11.8V I think.

When this thread was started the truck was dead. No lights, no power locks, no start, dead. Hence the title. The purpose of this thread was to keep notes on what the truck is doing, and to speculate why.

As a precursor to the truck finally being dead, it entered deep sleep mode repeatedly, it trying to preserve what little charge it had.

One battery replacement and 6 months later, it's happening again. In spite of it being fully recharged every weekend on a wall charger, it's back in deep sleep mode by the end of the week. It's driven to and from work every day. It didn't do that when the battery was new.

Either I've got shit luck with batteries, or something else is going on.

I see the Diehard H4-XEV specs are a bit above an LN1AGM that looks about the same size as the Ford LX6T-10655-BA (BXT99RT4-A) the Maverick hybrid comes with.
When I sat the LN1AGM next to the LX6T-10655-BA out of my Escape, they're very close to same size.
The Ford LX6T-10655-BA is 7-7/16"H x 8-1/8"L @ Mounting Base x 6-7/8"W @ Mounting Base
The LN1AGM is 7-7/16"H x 8-1/8"L @ Mounting Base x 6-7/8"W @ Mounting Base
The LN1AGM weighs 32.5 lbs, LX6T-10655-BA is 27 lbs
The LN1AGM has a vent hole for connecting the vent line the Maverick has and comes with a plug for it's 2nd vent hole (a vent hole at each end of the LN1AGM).

I watch the battery readings at the jump posts.
I moved the BM2 monitor from the Maverick ECO that I had for 7 months to the Hybrid I've had for a month.

I don't have pictures of my original battery, but from this user's post, some Maverick Hybrids have been delivered with LX6T-10655-BA batteries installed from the factory. And given your comparison pics, looks pretty safe to say the LN1AGM would be a perfect fit.

Here is mine

I'll need to pick up a BM2 monitor, that seems really useful for troubleshooting. I'd be able to compare voltage over time with different target charge levels, see if changing things actually does anything. And compare against your plots, thanks for these.

I don't know enough about batteries to know a good voltage/time plot from a bad one, but it looks like the Escape and the Maverick try to maintain similar charge levels, they both provide a quick voltage spike every time it starts to dip. The sudden voltage drops are interesting, but I don't know if that's a problem, not like it ever stays in a low SOC.

Too lazy to reread. Did you already uninstall FordPass and disable all connectivity inside the truck ? Some f150 guys have went as far as pull the TCU (modem) fuse w/o issues.

I know we shouldn't be disabling features but sometimes that's what it takes.

I get all OEMs have issues but this the amount of problems there are wait battery drain is pathetic.

Yup, already done. Wifi off, Fordpass connect off and no 4G modem in mine. I couldn't really tell a difference.

I debated pulling the fuse, but eh. It's passed multiple drain tests at the dealer, if something were drawing it down it should show up there.

And how long have you been running around on the second battery with the forscan settings changed to fla / 90% SOC ? Before it started going south again ?

I just changed the FORScan settings this past weekend. Sunday 11/19. I fully recharged the battery and reset the BMS when I did it. So this is day #2.

Just checked battery voltage, down to 11.9V. Battery charger agrees, ~25% charged. I drove home from work at 5 PM, should be back asleep tomorrow morning.

Battery was replaced by the dealer ~4/25/23 and frequent deep sleep messages returned on 9/18/23.

I've ordered a BM2 monitor to start plotting voltage over time, it went back downhill pretty quick. Either the changes were ineffective, or it's too far gone to matter.
