What it means is the DC/DC converter has two settings:

Low ( 13.x ) for accessory mode and
High ( 14.x ) for drive mode.

8 amps of draw was when dome light was on, when you first shut off, and when the dome lights go off the draw was 4 amps.
On 10/26/23 I had 23E09 power train recall done on my lariat 12v been showing 11.9-12.1v in accessory (push start button and truck goes to ready showing 14.8 before recall after recall shows 15.3-15.5) then push start button to turn ready off now in accessory. Turn off all possible 12v and dash power point monitor shows on 7th day and 270 miles at 12.8v which did not drop for 3-4 minutes. 23E09 apparently updates setting for BMS ???

I need to clarify:

there are four possible conditions:

Key off
Key to accessory 12 volt battery only
Run without start, DC/DC on low
Started and Ready DC/DC on high.

Dealer ATTEMPTED to sell me one of those. I said I did't want it. He told kid getting ready to wash it and top off the gas not to add that thingy. I'm gonna look now that you brought it up.

Edit: mine looks purely stock, nothing added or tampered with.
Ya, they tried to sell it to me for $600. I said I don't want it and I did not pay for it.
It was still there....piece of crap.

I noticed the other day when playing with forscan there are battery settings. I don't remember the module but there was a battery charge type set on AGM and another battery charge setting (I don't recall the name) it was set to 60% or close to that. I don't have the guts to change them.

The hybrid doesn't have AGM battery, don't mess with that.

If you are opening the door to get in and look, lots of things start up when you do that. Maybe look at it from outside while pointed at a window?

You are not the first to notice AGM set in a hybrid. I wonder if there was a factory error Ford isn't owning up to.

And my battery is always in the 60 percents.

Coincidence???

This is done, or an option on, laptops in their BIOS. As well as electric cars. It's to help with battery longevity.

That being said, that is for lithium batteries. I can find nothing that says max longevity of lead acid type batteries (including AGM) is less than "FULL".

Yes, this is interesting. Wish he had access to someone who worked in Ford's engineering department.

Yes, lead-acid batteries last longest when at 100%.
I don't get why they do this.

I think these 12v batteries die by a million paper cuts, so to speak.

Replacing one will have immediate benefits. It will immediately solve issues. But for how long?

My truck is drawing 4 amps out of the truck 30 minutes after I've removed the key. It eventually turns off because the battery never goes to zero volts. Just 11.8 volts.

So it's kinda like leaving your headlamps on EVERY SINGLE DAY until the 30 min timer cuts it off.

This is unusual wear & tear on the battery, I think, contributing to short lifespan. But a guess. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Interesting regarding the 4A draw. That's exactly what the dealership measured my draw, but blamed it on my Kicker Hideaway behind the seat.

So how many of us need to band together before Ford owns up to an issue? Or is a weak 12 volts battery not an issue (their default position)?

I'd love to get some Ford employee on video telling me this is "normal".
