He better be measuring the real internal capacity to prove or disprove GPSMan's theories once and for all!And.....one would do that why exactly?
Interesting mod idea. Let us know how it works out!Has anyone removed their gas tank? If so were the bolts hard to remove?
Building an EV Maverick.Until the OP sets the record straight we can have fun guessing what happened. What's some other ideas?
There’s a 30 gallon tank option out there for upgrade???? Would it fit a tremor?I guesses on why needing to remove the gas tank:
- Was cleaning the DIY spray-in liner out of the front bed threads and hit the gas tank (ala Ford assembly line on some 2022 Mavs).
- Seriously whacked the gas tank while off-roading or hit debris in the road?
- Wants to install a 30gal tank so they can travel further for cheaper gas 2 states over.
- Filled the "gas" tank with diesel (I mean it is a truck, right?)

That's what I was thinking, but I don't have theories, I have photos. He better be measuring the real internal capacity to prove or disprove GPSMan's theories once and for all!![]()
Squirt some "FlexSeal" in the hole. You guys are some comedians. I made a bone head move and drilled a hole in the top of the tank. I was reading that the bolts can be very hard to remove and even break because of the Loctite that's applied. I'm hoping they're not Torx bolts like someone mentioned.
I bought a Torx plus set to up in my tailgate assist, not thinking it was necessary, just the plus caught my eye, lucky…I have no idea about the specific fasteners used for the fuel tank, but you should be aware that Ford uses "Torx Plus" hardware, not legacy Torx. It's possible to bugger up the bolt heads by using an ordinary Torx bit in a Torx Plus fastener because the fit is too loose.
