Mpg is the only reason I didn't get the Tremor. My fx4 (w/o 4k tow) is getting between 26 and 29 around town. Pretty good for a decently sized (fasssst) vehicle
Mine is nowhere near that! Driving my kids to school and back for a week and I’m at 21.5 mpg

I think you've already made up your mind here and are just looking to validate the decision you already made before posting.

Honestly I’m pretty torn on it. I think for me it is the interior of the Tremor. It doesn’t seem as well thought out with the color scheme in comparison to the FX4. However to each their own! I was shocked as my wife actually really liked the Tremor with exterior bronze/orange accents and wheels. I thought for sure she would hate it.

I also like the exterior of the Tremor and the 4WD, but that's about it. I bridged the gap between a lifted Tacoma and a Hybrid Escape with the EB FX4. Since you brought up pricing and financing, it really would be the smart move to wait a while longer. Maybe revisit the thought towards end of year models and when you can get possibly a decent offer a couple years into your current loan as you are paying less interest moving forward. 3-4 years would be the smart move to avoid so much negative equity. The offer you got is not "bad", but with current interest rates, it's not great either. If you are unhappy with the Tremor and look to get out in a year as well, you will have lost a good amount towards interest instead of the principle. That alone makes it hard to come out on top even in this market. The offers are normalizing and especially at a dealer, they will not give you positive equity anymore. The only reports of that happening anymore are from people getting quotes online - not actually following through and even then, without proof I'd never believe it. Or, obviously, without putting a large amount down.

See if they will give you an extended test drive like they used to do when vehicles were surplus on the lots. A full day on your normal commute, even though it's new and would be the break in period, it should give you a general idea and feel for the Tremor.

My personal opinion though, just keep what you have! I've had a new vehicle every year for the past 4 years. I got a KTM 390 ADV to bridge the gap in my need to off road. I'm done vehicle shopping for a while. ;)

Tremor for the win. I have dome plenty of offroading so far that the Tremor lost traction in and had to work through, however when I lock in the AWD and then the rear diff. It just crawls up everything with zero wheelspin. The ride is really good too. Many times I wasnt paying attention and did some harder hits that would have been harsh in my 96 Bronco but the Tremor just smoothed em out. Unless you absolutely must tow something between the very narrow window of 2000-4000lbs, the Tremor beats all. Also it is capable of 30-31 mpg if driven conservatively. However with my offroading and DD and roadtripping I have averaged 24mpg. But that includes plenty of idling with AC and days of offroading.

I will be trading my XL 4K in on a Tremor in about a month . Amazingly the dealer is allowing me 2 grand more in trade then it cost for the XL . I already put Toyo tires on the XL ,so gas milage should be about the same . No financing ,so not an issue . If you look at what it cost to put a lift and tires on your XLT ,its about the same as moving up to a Tremor . And you still wont have the off roading ability of a Tremor .

So out of nowhere, my 2023 order of an XLT Tremor Avalance Grey has magically arrived at my local dealership. I had purchased a local XLT Cactus Grey Ecoboost FX4 in March (Lux, moonroof, rear sliding window, 4 pin towing, drop in bedliner, tie downs). Its been a great truck, just the bluetooth has issues. Now I have a 2023 XLT Tremor with Lux, Spray In Bedliner, Tie Downs and 4 pin towing on the lot and ready to go for me. My FX4 has 7,500 miles, cost me originally $35,500 in a private sale. I'm currently at a 5.2% interest rate with my XLT FX4. I'm torn cause I really like the interior of the FX4 as well as the moonroof/rear window. I like the capabilities of the Tremor, the stance and that it's different as I've only seen one in person besides this truck I've ordered. My Tremor with tax and title will be $34,205 (with Ford sending me a $400 check for some reason) and the dealership wants to give me $32,500 for my current FX4. All bets are off, what would you do in this situation? My neighbor is interested in buying one or the other from me in a private sale but we haven't firmed it up. I have until Monday to decide. What would you do in this situation? Tremor worth the trade?
Personally,I think the tremor is less capable since it can only tow half of what your fx4 can.if you intend to do alot of hardcore off roading though maybe the difference in the tremor would be noticable?

Both of my mavericks have only the 4 pin tow kit. Neither are the 7 pin or 4k tow package.

Gotcha.then I guess it would depend on how much hardcore off roading you plan on doing.the tremor should be a bit more capable.very pleased with my 23 Ecoboost AWD 4k tow so far!

Just buy the tremor and resell it for more than you bought it for. Dealers are marking up a lot and you could make a few bucks. If you do not want it.

Financially - you didn’t mention or I missed it, what is the new interest rate? Personally I would not be out of pocket $3-4k and possibly a higher interest rate for 7500 miles. My situation was different in that I had 28k miles, a window chip and rust spot and it only cost me $860 + tax and registration or $2300 to move into my 23.

Functionally and aesthetically for me, the moonroof and sliding window are no longer negotiable. I use both 3 or 4 times a day at least. I do like the look of the Tremor but have not driven one or the EB as I am about mpg since I drive so much. If you switch just for looks think how much you’ll like it when it gets scratched or dinged. I have no complaints about the leather interior, colors or performance.

Bottomline - It is a tough decision. If you have the money to burn and are just enthralled with the looks and don’t care about the moonroof and window, go for it. I would suggest you don’t get caught up in this Maverick fever and let your gut tell you the right move. Good luck! I’m sure you’ll be happy with your decision.

Depending on where you are prices seem to be leveling out. I don’t know that it would be worth the taxes and registration anymore.

See with my rear window I can’t reach it and it’s slide only no power switch so I only use it when my kids are in the truck. I like the moonroof but I’m good with or without based upon past vehicles.
Absolutely this. I needed the manual rear-slider and wouldn't go without it and now I have it and the only time it gets used is when my kids play with it - which is fine because they like it but it wouldn't be a deal breaker at all moving forward on a truck.

I absolutely love my Tremor. It has been a long time since I've been in an non-Tremor Maverick but I do believe the ride is much improved via the upgraded shocks and falken wildpeaks. That to me makes the truck feel a little more substantial and sturdy to me.

I will say so far the hit on MPG appears real. Although I only have 500 miles on my I am averaging just over 23mpg and it has been very light driving and mixed use. So I guess it is doing better than EPA estimates but it isn't going to come close matching your FX4 if that is important to you.

If it is $1,800 to get into the Tremor, but it is going to be a lower interest rate you'll likely get $500-600 of that back over the life of the loan maybe more.

I think you should drive it and decide which one you like best, and if MPG is really important to you.

I don't think his FX4 has the 4k package, and if you are getting this little truck for towing, you're doing it wrong.
