So out of nowhere, my 2023 order of an XLT Tremor Avalance Grey has magically arrived at my local dealership. I had purchased a local XLT Cactus Grey Ecoboost FX4 in March (Lux, moonroof, rear sliding window, 4 pin towing, drop in bedliner, tie downs). Its been a great truck, just the bluetooth has issues. Now I have a 2023 XLT Tremor with Lux, Spray In Bedliner, Tie Downs and 4 pin towing on the lot and ready to go for me. My FX4 has 7,500 miles, cost me originally $35,500 in a private sale. I'm currently at a 5.2% interest rate with my XLT FX4. I'm torn cause I really like the interior of the FX4 as well as the moonroof/rear window. I like the capabilities of the Tremor, the stance and that it's different as I've only seen one in person besides this truck I've ordered. My Tremor with tax and title will be $34,205 (with Ford sending me a $400 check for some reason) and the dealership wants to give me $32,500 for my current FX4. All bets are off, what would you do in this situation? My neighbor is interested in buying one or the other from me in a private sale but we haven't firmed it up. I have until Monday to decide. What would you do in this situation? Tremor worth the trade?

I'd buy the Tremor. And this is coming from a guy who passed up his 23 XLT LUX Tremor to keep his 22 FX4 XLT LUX 4K.

But the difference here is I have 1.9% financing on my 22 and I have the 4K Towing package. If the specs and interest rates were comparable as they are in your case I'd switch to the Tremor in a heartbeat.

Also, FWIW, my wife had a Tremor for two months and it absolutely out drove my FX4. The suspension is awesome! Go test drive your Tremor and you'll be hooked.

I currently have a Tremor Lariat that is getting totalled, but outside that I have really enjoyed the Tremor a lot and have found I rarely use the moonroof and back window I have. Now granted I would buy it with them again, just to have them. but I don't use them as much as I thought. Drop in vs spray in is a difference, but in theory the drop in could be replaced with spray in by linex or whoever if spray in is what you want. I am partial to the Bedrug myself though. As for Cactus Grey vs Avalanche Grey, that is a personal preference, but I like Avalance Grey better asthetically and that its exclusive to the Tremor Maverick, and only 2023. So there won't be many others on the road. If it was me I would trade in for the Tremor, for the color, the capabilities, asthetic, and that it is the truck 'you' ordered, and not just a random off the lot. But if the Moonroof and back window are something you feel are worth keeping, then stick with what you have. Also my Tremor is getting 21.1 MPG avg and I got 24 I think on a roadtrip. So If you are also okay with lower gas milage, that is one more thing to consider, but not something that phases me. Hope that helps some :)

Personally, I'd stick with the FX4. I don't feel the loss in MPG's is worth the minimal amount gained for "off roading" unless you are actually doing it VERY often. Even then, most people will be just fine with AWD unless you are hunting for trails to get stuck in that are likely above the Mavericks paygrade anyways.

I would not go negative in equity - even a grand, for the trade. Private sell and make a profit/break even or keep what you have. I think you already know the answer of what you want vs. what you need and that is why you got the FX4 originally. Keep it. I get you want something different than what everyone else has especially around you, but popularity contests were not even cool in school as a kid, who cares what other people drive.

I think paying less than $1800 to get a truck with 0 miles, from a truck wit 7500 miles, is a good deal.
I don’t disagree with this. If it’s a lower interest rate (new vehicle versus used) and zero miles versus the 1,500 mine had when I bought it.

See with my rear window I can’t reach it and it’s slide only no power switch so I only use it when my kids are in the truck. I like the moonroof but I’m good with or without based upon past vehicles.

If you decide on the Tremor, trade the FX4 in for sales tax savings unless your neighbor can make up the difference.
Yes! I’d need to charge him like $34,500 due to the tax situation. Whereas the dealership is already accounting for that cost so I’m basically getting $33,500 for my trade in.

So this is definitely a thing to consider. However my current FX4 has the upgraded wheels and Falken Wildpeak Tires. Around town I get 21-22 mpg. On the highway for longer trips I get 28 mpg currently. I’m not sure the Tremor will be better or worse than that.

Most of the tests I've seen, don't have a Tremor myself, is that on average it's worse than the FX4 by 2-5MPG.

I think you've already made up your mind here and are just looking to validate the decision you already made before posting.

Mpg is the only reason I didn't get the Tremor. My fx4 (w/o 4k tow) is getting between 26 and 29 around town. Pretty good for a decently sized (fasssst) vehicle
