What's fun for me is how much Maverick owners are like their Model T owner forebears. They, too, would brag about power, real utility, and price--and take pride in their purchase. I have driven F-150's since 1995, primarily because my back likes their seats. (I had one GMC--it lasted a week). But the price is getting beyond me. My current one is paid off and I'm averaging 20 mpg, but the shock was that the difference in gas mileage would pay for a new Maverick. I just hope the same designer is responsible for the Maverick's seats . . .
I get 11 mpg on my 08 F-150!!!

My brother described it to some one else as "...kinda like a modern el camino". The few times I've had anyone say anything about it I just replied with "I don't need to compensate for anything..." and then nod towards their big truck or "I'm comfortable with my penis size".

My sister-in-law was trying to convince her brother in law that he should get one since he needs a new truck, he responded with "It's too small for me, I'd feel cramped" or something along those lines. I was just like "I'm about 5 inches taller than him and about 30 pounds heavier, I fit just fine..."

It's all a matter of perspective.

Co-worker called it a Lady truck and another co-worker thinks his 2018 F-150 with NA-V6 is somehow cooler . I've never understood the full sized truck with V6. Doesn't bother me a bit, I always had small commuter cars until I got my 2019 F-150(which by the way was cooler then both of their trucks), so this is more my style.

My GOLDEN jab so far:
While getting into my Maverick in a parking lot, the owner of a hopped up Silverado made a "Cute little truck you got there" comment with his buddy in the passenger seat.
Without missing a beat I said "At least I don't need to compensate!"

His buddy is probably still laughing.

Not wrong, either! That's literally how Ford is marketing it.

I've had a couple larger trucks peel out at traffic lights while next to me. Problem is I don't care; I stopped racing to the next red light when I figured that little problem out at 19.

Friend of mine asked why I didn't get a "real truck" and I told him I could buy two of these for the price of one of those. That was pretty much the end of that line of query.
Watching aggressive drivers race to the next light . . . very entertaining and amusing. So tempted to wave when I pull up next to them coasting to a stop. My dad had a saying which I find myself repeating whenever I come across one of these idiots, "See yo at the light".

Maybe because his EGO is too big

I have a short but sweet retort having a Maverick Hybrid - "40 mpg baby!"

That’s what I’m talking about!

I always had side pack fuel tanks added when I owned old trucks. 50+ gallons got you pretty far!

Those things probably aren’t even legal anymore, especially the ones located inside the vehicle like I had on my old Blazer.

It was fun manually switching the toggle when a tank ran dry while on the move, especially if you had a passenger and told them that you just ran out of fuel in “the tank”.
I only paid attention to the gas gauge once I was using the main tank.

As a retort to the gas guzzling "Bubba trucks" my wife calls her hybrid, "The Silver Sipper."

I've gotten a small amount of "get a real truck" comments, but those roll off the back pretty easy these days. I've got a small truck with mid-size sedan passenger area (most important for me), excellent fuel economy for a vehicle that can put a 1500 lb skid of shingles in the back, and has a ride height that doesn't make me feel like I'm driving from a hole in the ground. The Maverick was the perfect vehicle for me at this point in my life, AND it's remarkably affordable for a very cool vehicle.
