  1. 245/70/R17 tires fit on factory FX4 Maverick (no rubbing)

I don't know if anyone else already answered your question, but the answer is "yes", this can be corrected in your factory computer. I'm definitely *NOT* an expert in the re-programming computers arena, but there is software available to edit how your factory computer measures conditions. With...
  2. 245/70/R17 tires fit on factory FX4 Maverick (no rubbing)

I'd happily oblige this request, but I don't have a 1000 lb. load handy to drive through rough terrain. LOL! I would say this however, that while the likelihood of rubbing is certainly increased in my example when your conditions are factored in, I don't think the rubbing would amount to...
  3. 245/70/R17 tires fit on factory FX4 Maverick (no rubbing)

As promised, I'm now ready to deliver my findings on how my Fuel Economy has been effected by installation of larger tires on my Maverick. To recap, I had installed a larger size tire on my 2022 XLT/FX4 Maverick, replacing the 225/65/R17 Pirelli's with 245/70/R17 GT Radial Adventuro's. I'm a...
  4. GT Radial, a good economy choice

Big shout out to GT Radial's Adventura tires! Great blend of a mean look and really good on-road behavior and noise. Shown here as 245/70/17, and fitting without rubbing. ;)
  5. 245/70/R17 tires fit on factory FX4 Maverick (no rubbing)

Thanks! I'd have loved to jump all the way up to 265/65's, but I can easily see on my stock truck that those would likely start rubbing well before the lock! As for the GT Radials, these are my second set actually... my first set was their old "Turbo Plus", 245/65/15's on my '83 AMC Eagle SX4...
  6. 245/70/R17 tires fit on factory FX4 Maverick (no rubbing)

I'm not going to lie and say that I put it though an off-road grinder, while steering lock to lock the entire time. However, I DID drive it through this sort-of-figure-eight-looking rough patch off the road about a mile from my place, and I never detected any rubbing (though because it is...
  7. Fast Mavericks Intercooler Pipe Upgrade for 2.0L EcoBoost

Looks sweet, but tell me why I want this? What is the improvement? I'm always a sucker for upgrades... LOL
  8. Brought my Maverick home yesterday

Congrats, I hope you enjoy it as much as I like mine! Looks sharp!
  9. 245/70/R17 tires fit on factory FX4 Maverick (no rubbing)

Funny you should ask. On my commute to work there is a perpetual speed radar telling people how fast they are going. When my speedo reads 54, the radar said 57, which was about what I was expecting. I was on a tire size comparison site, and it stated there was about a 7% increase in tire...
  10. 245/70/R17 tires fit on factory FX4 Maverick (no rubbing)

I've peeked at the different topics on what tires will fit a factory Maverick, and 245/70/R17 was on the list, but I didn't see any posts that showed them on a stock build with NO lift. I rolled the dice, ordered some up, and had them installed. To anyone who's curious, I'll confirm that I...
  11. Fresh shoes for the old (not really) girl.

Money is always an issue, I ain't rich, but I'd like to get some cool rubber since I have a good home for my stock tires on the wifes Caravan (saves buying new rubber for that rig). A lot of folks seem to be happy with the Falkens, and I like the look of that tire as well... I look forward to...
  12. How long do you plan to keep your Maverick?

Realistically, I'd like to keep the old girl around for at least the 5 years it's financed for. Almost a year in, I still like the truck. I look to trade it in while it still has value, and 5 years is kinda a sweet spot for trucks.
  13. A.R.E. MX Series Topper / Truck cap Installed on 2023 Hybrid XLT in Cactus Gray

I'm not a big fan of toppers on pickups, but I CANNOT TELL A LIE that yours looks REALLY good, AND looks to really improve the weather-resistant part of your trucks cargo space! Shout out to the manufacturer who designed that extremely sporty and good looking cap!
  14. Is This The Worse Gear Dial Placement Of All Time?

Other than "grasping at air", looking for the T-handle in the console that my previous Nissan Frontier featured and looking silly, I like the Dial in the Ford Maverick. I'm honestly not crazy about "drive by wire", but that is the standard in todays auto industry and I think the Maverick...
  15. Maverick Paint sucks.

Here in Central Florida, with non-stop sun and me not being particularly "nice" to my paint in terms of washing and waxing, I can't relate your your problem. I've got 2 big digs in my paint job right now... one baby one on the front bumper from running down an innocent sign post. The bigger...
  16. How much do larger tires affect MPG

An important consideration is that unless you edit your vehicles computer, the larger distance you travel per tire revolution isn't going to be translated by the stock vehicle computer. Reasonably expect your stock computer to register a lower MPG with bigger tires - they are probably heavier...
  17. Fresh shoes for the old (not really) girl.

You are ridiculously correct about "need versus want", but as an old man, I just kinda want what I want. LOL! Around $1250 is almost exactly where I am at with EGR fender flares, Supreme suspension 1.5" spacers, and the Pirelli tires. I can knock off about $120 if I go with the GT Radials, or...
  18. Marty the Mav Got New Shoes (Bronco Sport Factory Wheels)!

Damn fine upgrade over the stock steelies for a paltry $400. Well done. :) HOWEVER, I would pony up for some solid chrome 1pc lugs instead of the open lugs. Capped lugs aren't the bane of existence, but I'll also get 1 pc closed lugs when the time comes. :)
  19. Parked next to another interesting small truck today

It's all about managing expectations. That's a fine small truck if you use it the way it was designed to be used. I'd love to have a little truck like that (better than a golf cart conversion) on my property.
  20. Best "small truck" insults!?

I've gotten a small amount of "get a real truck" comments, but those roll off the back pretty easy these days. I've got a small truck with mid-size sedan passenger area (most important for me), excellent fuel economy for a vehicle that can put a 1500 lb skid of shingles in the back, and has a...
