“Jealous?”

“I wonder if that’s why people are waiting 1.5 to 2 years to get one”

“I suppose it IS unique. It’s not something you see every day like a (fill in with the car they’re driving)”

“That’s hilarious! People say the funniest stuff when they’re envious!”

Or….

“At least MY spouse isn’t pushing
400 pounds LOL”

I just roll with the punches while looking at my black wheels and paint that have been scratched because I'm taking my "not real truck" on adventures while their brodozer on 37s hasn't left the mall parking lot.

My cousin refers to it as a "Ford Baja" lol. His Explorer has spent more time in the shop than any of the past 3 cars I have owned, I just need to bring that up and he quiets down lol

There is this interesting thing that keeps popping up while I am driving around..... I have a large amount of F150's that seem to think that they need to leave lights at full throttle when they are around me. Get a similar thing when I am out on my road bike too, mostly from those little import roller skates though. I guess its intimidating to them?

On the flip side though. I had a lady pull up next to me and start waving frantically to get my attention. I thought she was going to say I had a flat or something, well turns out she saw my truck, and then my license plate and busted out laughing. She had to tell me how much she loved the combo, and said she took a picture to send to her husband. My plate is BBYF150 btw lol.

Just tell them you forgot to read the owners manual on the section about maintaining appearance. “Hand wash and dry” and threw it in the dryer after washing.

Not to get too serious, but the one that gets me is when people call the Maverick a "cheap piece of Mexican trash":. Like somehow A) Mexico or Mexicans would be responsible for the materials chooses to make the truck out of, and B) that for some reason because it's made in Mexico, It's worse. Like somehow Mexican folks can't make cars, or Ford just threw open the factory doors and put people on the line (which I can kinda see them doing, but not exclusively to Mexico). Meanwhile, almost all the Maverick recalls include another Ford model, most often from the US. The Escape shares about half of them, and they make that in Kentucky, so the common denominator seems to be Ford, not the country of origin.
WOW, people REALLY need a life?????????

Willing to bet over 80% of them never do anything with their trucks but haul air too. Where did you camp out this time?

These are from a few trips over the past few months!

In order:

1. Gifford Pinchot National Forest past weekend. Cleared a bunch of trail with other volunteers.

2 and 3. Teanaway Community Forest

4. Gallagher Head Lake, in this case accessed it from a 2000 ft climb on foot with a bike. The descent was incredible.

5. Wenatchee National Forest. Fantastic camping in the spring when it's melted out and the bike trails haven't turned to moon dust.

6. Again from this past weekend.

I don't let anything bother me regarding my truck. I don't need to follow the herd and drive a big truck, and it does all that I, and 95% of those who own big trucks, need a truck for.
It's also just as quick as my quickest truck, rides as well, but is much better on gas. So, if they want to criticize my "trucklette," let them, they can KMA. I make the payments, so if they don't like it, too bad. Your niece may see things more differently when she has to make a car payment, pay insurance, and maneuver through a world if oblivious motorists herself.

This is a fun game you can play with the half ton lux trucks, if one so happens to question the truck merits of your Maverick. Mention how nice their truck looks, and ask to take a look.....casually noticing the yellow payload sticker, and mentioning how much higher the Maverick payload rating is. You can depart by mentioning how nice their truck is, but that it just wouldn't work for you as it's just not enough "truck"..... 🤡

(for those unversed in "big" trucks, most of the OEM's lux half tons have payload ratings of around 1000 lbs.)

It’s very satisfying when someone speeds past me, then I roll right past them at the next light, even more satisfying when they don’t realize the lights are timed (to match posted speeds) and they do it again 😂
I had that exact experience this evening, coming home from an outing with my wife. A guy in a lifted Ram 1500 (with obligatory "fog" lights that are actually illegal for road use in all 50 states) was tailgating me - like 10 feet off my bumper - for about 3 miles. I was doing 35 in a 35 zone. When we finally got to the 4-lane section where the speed limit goes up to 45, I turned on my turn signal so I could move into the right lane. Right after I did that, he abruptly swerved into the right lane and floored it to get around me, flipping me off as he did so. Less than a quarter-mile later, he was stopped in the right lane at a red light. Since the left lane was clear, I switched to that lane, and of course the light turned green just before I got there (timed to match the speed limit, of course) and I passed him. He floored it again, and raced past me to the next red light, where he lurched to a stop - this time behind two other vehicles. I again passed him, since the light turned green just as I approached the intersection. But this time, just to annoy him further, I moved into the right lane in front of the other two vehicles - one of which was accelerating extremely slowly. And since I was going to turn right in 1/2 mile, I continued driving the speed limit in that lane. The vehicles between me and him turned a couple of streets before mine, and he once again roared up behind me, this time swerving into the left lane just before he would have hit me as I turned into my own neighborhood.

When I got home, I checked my trip mileage: 46.8 mpg. He would be lucky to be getting 8 mpg with that "Hemi" of his...

Turns out you can rent a pickup truck at Lowe's now. Problem solved...
Well, I keep hearing that, but before I got the Maverick, every time I tried to rent that mythical truck, it was always "unavailable." Pick ANY date, ANY time of day, and the booking system showed "unavailable." Then you drive to the store, and there are two of them on the lot. Ask about renting one for an hour - "Sorry, they're both reserved." My son had the same experience at the two Home Depots and three Lowes near him - all the trucks were booked solid. He asked me to drive the Maverick from Austin to Dallas to help him pick up a couch his wife bought on Facebook Marketplace. I told him to go to U-Haul and rent a trailer to pull behind his 4Runner. He actually said "I don't know if it can pull a trailer..." I asked him "They why did you get your 4Runner with a trailer hitch and brakes?" "Oh, it just came with those - I didn't order to that way... I forgot it even had that..." (But I suspect he mostly just didn't want to have to try to back up with a trailer hitched up. Until you get used to it, it can be a little intimidating.)

I remember when F 150s were the size of Rangers
There are two F-250s that park just down the street from our house. They are about 10-12 model years apart from each other. The newer one (maybe a 2018?) seems like twice the size of the older one. They just keep getting bigger and bigger, for no justifiable reason. It's gotta be REALLY hard to park one of those things - especially the long wheelbase models. They are HUGE!

I downsized But It’s not small. I used to read to my kids. Big, bigger, biggest. This is step one. Will go for 1500 sf in about 10 yrs.
I'm in 1800 sq ft now, down from about 4200 before. I do NOT miss the extra house size - not at all. But I DO miss the 1500 sq ft garage / workshop... The current 2-car garage (380 sq ft, minus the space taken up by the water heater and water softener) is shared by my Maverick, a freezer and 2nd fridge, my woodworking shop tools, and my wife's gardening "stuff"...

I have a garden shed planned that will allow relocation of all the gardening stuff (plus some other "miscellaneous" stuff), but it's still going to be pretty tight. I will have to move the Mav to the driveway to do any woodworking... (First world problems, right?)
