Best "small truck" insults!?

My girlfriends dad “mechanic for 30+ years” is a big Chevy/ram guy, he was probably the best so far. We were moving vehicles and trailers to mow the property and he said “You warming the sewing machine up?” I just kind of chuckled and said she may not sound it but she can do everything we actually need around here as I proceeded to move every trailer and boat with the Mav without issue before his AC got cold in his 1500. He also then remarked on how quick the AC got cold in the mav also the fact that I got 23 mpg towing a boat from Florida to NC the previous day he doesn’t get 20 driving to town empty lol.

My favorite was driving though my neighborhood past a group of people looking at a mini monster truck and one of them turning around to see my Maverick and laughing. He was laughing so hard that I couldn't help but laugh my ass off too.

My dad/neighbor has a 1500 Ram and a 2500 Ram. He started calling the 2500 'the big truck' and the 1500 'the small truck'. He said the Maverick was 'the mini truck'.

I told him by that logic his boxer was now a small dog since my pointer is a big dog.

He also jokes constantly about fertilizing his small tractor so it'll grow up to be a big tractor one day.

Took my youngest daughter to the dealership to pick-up my Maverick. It was parked right in full view while I was doing the paperwork. She was looking at it and asked me if XLT stood for "Extra Little Truck?". As a genuinely serious question. Sales guy tried hard to stifle his chuckles. Luckily he didn't have a mouth full of coffee or water.

I was sitting in traffic behind an Explorer SportTrac on Sunday and said to my husband that the Maverick is a different version of it. But with MUCH better gas mileage.

I've never driven (or ridden in) one, so I have no idea how close they come in a side-by-side comparison, but size-wise they should be fairly close

I'm guessing the explorer sport trac feels like a maverick, but worse. Saw one two days ago and basically said the exact same thing to my mom .

I get, "its not a real truck" mainly because of the unibody and the bed size. Or people compare it to the ridgeline? Once they see inside they all like it. I added a BAK x4 bed cover I call it my large trunk. I drive 27,000 a year just to get to work and back mostly highway. They can say what they want, I'm getting 40MPG and have the utility of a small truck.

Well, I keep hearing that, but before I got the Maverick, every time I tried to rent that mythical truck, it was always "unavailable." Pick ANY date, ANY time of day, and the booking system showed "unavailable." Then you drive to the store, and there are two of them on the lot. Ask about renting one for an hour - "Sorry, they're both reserved." My son had the same experience at the two Home Depots and three Lowes near him - all the trucks were booked solid. He asked me to drive the Maverick from Austin to Dallas to help him pick up a couch his wife bought on Facebook Marketplace. I told him to go to U-Haul and rent a trailer to pull behind his 4Runner. He actually said "I don't know if it can pull a trailer..." I asked him "They why did you get your 4Runner with a trailer hitch and brakes?" "Oh, it just came with those - I didn't order to that way... I forgot it even had that..." (But I suspect he mostly just didn't want to have to try to back up with a trailer hitched up. Until you get used to it, it can be a little intimidating.)

Sorry to hear about that. I've needed one recently, walked in the store, walked out with keys 20 minutes later.

Also, yes, some people don't know how to back up a trailer.

That is not me. I charge $5 $10 to back up other people's trailers.

I enjoy the jabs and don't hesitate to have some friendly banter with friends and colleagues. I did not expect it would be my 14 year old niece to take the award for best Maverick insult to date.

While taking my daughter and niece on a short shopping trip in the Mav, my niece remarked that it was quite nice and was "kind of like a beginner truck."

A beginner truck...like I'm just learning to truck!

My wife likes it. The first time she saw it she said "its cute and small", that it fits me .

I thought this string was silly, now it has 14 pages! I also did not think I would encounter such a (stupid, closed minded, petty, small minded, ect) person to insult my truck. Tonight I was proved wrong. Insult: “that’s not a bed. It’s a cot.”

I've had that said to me as well!! Try hauling 19 loads of straw in a minivan! I like dirty/messy stuff to stay out of the passenger areas. Even when I had Expeditions I would go home and get my F150 instead.
