Any idea why people are trading in their new Mavericks?

Hello All!

I want a Hybrid, and couldn't even get my order in. That being said, in the last 10 hours I've had 3 dealers call and tell me they have new trade in Mavericks. 2000 miles or less (none are hybrids). Was curious why there would be such a "surge" for lack of a better word in trade-ins? Your thoughts would be great!
I traded in my 1 month old XLT hybrid for a Lariat hybrid. Ordered both of them

If someone paid $40k in ’22, it will be worth $20k in ’24 betcha!

What exactly is your position?

If someone purchased a bare bones XL in 2022 and paid a ~$20K ADM to get it to $40K ( and perhaps some did) , it might only be worth $20k 2 years later? What exactly does that prove?

No XL is $20K, that is a ’21 ordered fleet price if it is…what is your point? Look you seem to have a lot of investment in cars Jay Leno, so I get your issues with my statements😂

I'll restate for you from above.

Really? let her have a fit, Suzi is uninformed about the Maverick, I suspect her comment (if true) was for the entire multi-OEM product line. ... I've followed her forever....

The Maverick line and ordering/pricing/production/availability/value will not significantly change in the next (2) model years...

I want a Hybrid, and couldn't even get my order in. That being said, in the last 10 hours I've had 3 dealers call and tell me they have new trade in Mavericks. 2000 miles or less (none are hybrids). I read a while back that Ford was asking people eligible for the employee lease program to turn in their Mavericks so they could be auctioned to dealers so that they could have something to look sell.
All the Mavericks have a big mark up when sold as used. To me it seems like the XL model has the greatest mark up.

Then I suppose there are lots of dumb people paying over sticker for C8 Stingrays, and are waitingfor the Z06 to arrive with huge markups expected. Also many dumb people paying way over for Porsche 992s, 718 GTS and GT4.
Fords were for the "common" people. People buying high end versions of sports cars are not worried about the price. It's all about "What I have, and you don't"

I don't think any of these are selling 5k over.. I mean how many people on this forum, can you name one that paid 5k over? They can ask whatever they want doesn't mean anyone is paying excepted dealers which is not the brightest business model.
People who are paying 5K or more over MSRP for a Maverick are not on this forum with us. They could care less what we think!

I have a 2022 Hybrid with 16,000 miles on it and when I took it in for the last recall the dealer offered me $7,000.00 over what I paid for it. He told me they can get enough Hybrids. That is where the demand is now.

All the Mavericks have a big mark up when sold as used. To me it seems like the XL model has the greatest mark up.
I just put my (still waiting to receive my 11/21 order, reordered ‘22) ‘23, 4 miles, JD Power $32,000, dealer initially wanted $41,000 for my MSRP order that is $29,850 with a $2,750 price protected certificate. Now the dealer is asking $33,521 🙄

Bought a new '22 Hybrid XL off a dealer lot when the original buyer backed out from his deal. (I had ordered way back in Oct. '21 and was still waiting for my build). I kept my original order in place. I bought and drove the '22 for 7 months. After waiting 19 months, my original order was completed as a '23 hybrid XLT. I sold the '22 to Carvana and made about $5,000 over what I paid for it.
Being able to sell a used vehicle for more than you paid for it almost never happens. This was a major score!

My dealership is trying to sell me my SPECIAL ORDER for 11K over MSRP, there is no way anyone can make money on that or get a loan.

They refer back to the dealer, I think the ones here in Oahu are all problematic.
