Dealer called today to say my 2023 Maverick XLT Hybrid order is canceled and wanted to know if I want to order a 2024 when orders open.

Did they give a reason? Most likely the dealer botched the paperwork on the COVP would be my guess.

The only reason Ford would have cancelled at this time is if your dealer failed to do COVP as instructed. Your dealer is BSing you. Talk to the GM, and pressure him to put the new order in (when the banks open), at the lowest priority number (Highest priority). Right now that would be 10, but there is a plan to allow dealers to go as low as 3. If that happens, that's were your order should be.

Exact same thing happened to me. When I confronted the dealer and the sales manager about it it was met with a "shoulder shrug" and an "oh well" attitude. I called for customer service and they said "sorry". So now I get to pay a higher price and interest rates. It's been fun...

Call or chat with Ford. Provide them your sales and order codes to make sure they are just screwing you and selling it to someone else.
THAT was exactly my first thought!

They are blaming ford but the dealer did not do COVP. I would ask them if they did COVP

No matter how you slice it, we've seen no evidence that this would be Ford's error and no indication that Ford would have cancelled your order for any reason except COVP at this time.

If you plan on working with this dealer in the future, it might be worth your time to determine all the gritty details of exactly what happened and how.

IMO however, your dealer had one job in order to sell you a truck and this was it. The one thing you can't do for yourself is submit and manage your order with Ford. Regardless of how they managed to botch the process it smells bad enough to me that I'd start looking for a new dealer in 2024.

You all are awfully sure that the dealer screwed up and it wasn't just Ford balancing it out.

Looking at the data from Monday's constraints list it appears to me that between 9 and 10 thousand hybrid orders are not going to get built. They'll get balanced out soon. How soon? Maybe started yesterday. 🤷‍♀️

I tend to agree. The possibility of either scenario shouldn't be ruled out so quickly.

I think the advice to try another dealer is not a bad idea, but everyone wants a deposit and at this point - most people are just agreeing it's not worth it.

Personally, I think more people should cancel orders and say screw it. Maybe (this is me being VERY optimistic) then there would be no requirement for deposits up front - AS IT SHOULD BE! The trucks are going to sell anyways. How do we go from surplus on the lots to requiring deposits to even place an order when demand is currently more than supply can keep up with... It's actually not even a question. It all seems very... well, controlled and calculated, but also I'm not going to sit back and criticize things beyond my level like this. No doubt there are "shortages" to some extent. Ugh... this is just what happens when you build an economy on such a short supply. Anyways...

OP, call around. It's worth a shot. But I'd personally be calling abut a '24 with no deposit required if I was you. These are the reasons @Ford Motor Company should be on this forum... but they are really only here to gather information, request personal info via private message, run your vin and then tell you which dealer to contact. In other words... mostly useless information you can find out via Google and literally going outside. Like the "updates" they are sending out... "helpful".

No, there is still scheduling for 23 Mavs for another few weeks. Ford won't purge the order banks for a while yet (so dealers can reference unscheduled 23s to reorder 24s).

At this point, the dealer failing to properly complete COVP is the likely reason.

Over 4500 orders seem to have been cancelled due to lack of COVP approval.

I expect the number of hybrids that will remain unscheduled will be more like 15-20K.
