Great fuel economy aside, I'm pretty satisfied with the hybrid powertrain.

51 miles into a tank and the MTE is still over 600.

Back road driving with a lot of stop signs and lights and 45-55 mph limits are great for mileage. Even with AC. Small hills actually seem to increase mpg as it favors the free mileage downhill and using the gas going up hills is overkill for this truck.

While I agree with the other favorable impressions, driving in Sport Mode, with the artificial engine sounds and shift points really tickles me. Very thoughtful of Ford to include it.

Just for fun I compared the 0-60times with my minivan and Miata.

2000 Mazda Miata, 140hp , 7.5sec
2012 Honda Odyssey, 248hp, 8.3sec
2023 Maverick Hybrid, "190hp", 7.6sec

Mav definitely has enough power to navigate everything I want. Without added a rear electric motor or other AWD, it really doesn't "need" more oomph. I would love AWD though!

OH I forgot- in 1989 the fastest FWD car in the world was the Taurus SHO. 220hp, 6.5sec 0-60mph.

Car and driver magazine said that "above 100mph it's faster than the potent 5.0 Mustang" because of aerodynamics!

Here at altitude, around 5,000 ft, I got an unofficial 7.7 second 0-60 time. My 2 tanks of gas have been: 48mpg with city/highway and 54mpg city/ country roads (No extended 80mph highway).

Plenty of zip and super good MPG. What more could you ask?

Oh, AND it can haul bigger stuff than any SUV or car.

I can attest to that... I had my SHO up to 143 mph (on a closed road) and hit the speed limiter.... It was still accelerating nicely when the "nanny" cut in.

Absolutely love my Hybrid thus far. Took our first excursion into the hilly Amish country in the Lancaster PA area, around 75 miles one way, with better than half being highways at 70 or so mph. Luggage, snacks, and other stuff under the tonneau, for my wife and I. (Tonneau was closed). We even hit a massive storm, with a tornado watch on the way out Friday, with nowhere to stop and seek shelter (limited access highway), winds, heavy rain, and still averaged 49.2 on the way there.

Coming back, awesome clear, sunny days, became warm, and turned on the a/c, as the temps went past the 70s into the 80s. Even with the a/c running, the return trip was 51.8 mpg.

Lets just say I wasn't expecting mileage that high, given that over half of the trip each way was at highway speeds, with an epa rating of 33 highway. The Hybrid has more than sufficient power to merge and keep up with traffic, even with the a/c on, which doesn't affect how it drives, being totally electric. Even surprised my wife on a short on-ramp to i95, when I gave a good jab to the accelerator to get up to speed, merging into the traffic flow. I do notice it gains speed faster than it feels, the drivetrain is so smooth, it doesn't feel as quick as it is.

Mines breaking in nicely, I completely agree about the power lol. It's no speed demon obviously, but I haven't had a single moment yet where I felt like I needed more power than I had available. Getting over 600 miles out of a normal sized gas tank every time has been awesome. My only 2 complaints are having to put it in eco mode every time I start it, and the infotainment system is borderline garbage. I love the ride and handling, and also after a few months of ownership, I really appreciate the nice turning circle and how pathetically easy it is to parallel park vs my Santa Cruz that I traded in.

At 5500 miles, yet to have a single tank average under 42mpg, and haven't needed more power or capability then my Mav has. It did unfortunately spend almost 4 weeks in the shop with the sleep mode issues plaguing a bunch of Mav hybrid owners... I even bought a jump box. Knock on wood, it's been perfect since they fixed it, and I can continue harassing my wife about my truck being better on gas than her little hatchback 🤣 I really hate to fanboy or shill for anything, but holy hell... A cheap 40+mpg little pickup is literally the perfect vehicle for my needs.

You aren't kidding. My wife and I are on our anniversary vacation in Vermont, and my average mpg is sitting at 50.5 over 330 miles. And that's with me going 5-10mph over the limit everywhere besides the 25mph areas. It really loves to coast, and coasting seems to charge the hell out of the battery, because I'm consistently seeing near half of my miles being all electric.

I was worried about owning a buzzkill CVT, but this E-CVT with the hybrid is slick.
Ownd mine since June 2022, 20,000 KM. Towed this for about 5000 KM.

1440lb trailer, 5100lb combined. Average about 26mpg while towing. The E-CVT and hybrid system keep things in the sweet spot. No annoying gear hunting.
Nacho mama's CVT. An eCVT is like night & day different.

I'm not one to complain, but this is the first time I've averaged under 50 mpg ... 😞

Honestly, I was skeptical about the transmission, but no gear hunting ever, and the sheer smoothness sold me. I can't speak for longevity obviously, but it's surpassed all my expectations by a lot so far. Even if I were nitpicking, the tranny is probably near the back of the line 🤣

You know, if they never made the hybrid I'd still be extatic about the 30mpg ecoboost.

So getting around 40mpg in a truck that can haul 1300 lbs of rock (plus me), cost <$30k, and has the turning radius and parallel parking capability like a small hatchback is unbelievable.

I recently played around with sport mode and loved how this truck jumped from a dead stop. And no matter what mode it's in, the acceleration is butter-smooth.

I've never been a car or truck guy. I drove whatever got me from A to B. Now my problem is my wife's tired of me talking about the Maverick. But that's what you all are for!
