I have not reset my Trip 2 since taking delivery and it is currently @ 5.4 l/100km (43.56 mi/US gal). The more recent trend is closer to 5.6 l/100km (42 mi/ US gal) with the colder weather. I do mostly city driving.

You've got to try harder. Lay out a parachute to pull before you go on the freeway!A little context here. The Mav had two kayaks (12 & 13' long) and a Yakima cargo box up top, the rear seat and tonneau-equipped be loaded with cargo, while towing roughly 1400# of motorcycles and trailer.

Yes. And/or the oil change interval is based on gallons burned. Which is basically the same thing.I should have added that the "change oil soon" minder came on during the trip. Only had about 3400 miles since the previous oil change. Guess all that time running at high RPM was actually considered in by the computer.
Ah, good to know. Thank you.Yes. And/or the oil change interval is based on gallons burned. Which is basically the same thing.
Because what gets the oil dirty?
Miles? Or burning fuel?
Someone could prove it by running at idle for 300 gallons worth. I'm dedicated to building knowledge for this group but I'm not that dedicated.
The oil life monitor is tracking a lot of inputs, not just the number of gallons burned. If you burn 300 gallons in light cruising you will get a lot more life than if you put your foot into it. It also takes into account the engine revs, the oil temperature, the number of starts, the amount of knock that your fuel is causing, the time exposed to atmosphere, etc.Yes. Nope. Have to set every time. No big deal. Just muscle memory. Thanks so much … is there a way to default this mode or do I need to change it everytime I get into the truck … seems like I have to set it as it always defaults to normal… sorry still figuring things out …
