I can’t wait to get 40+ mpg on an errand truck! I’ll probably drive more which defeats the purpose 😆

Ya.

When I first got my Hybrid Escape in 2005, many times I drove around just to see how high of a "score" I could get.

May or may not be guilty of doing that in the Maverick once or twice, but I'm not saying. 🤐

I just got 43 mpg on my first tank.
Probably 50/50 city/hwy and mostly used eco mode.
My dad and gf did a fair bit of driving as well which reduced the mileage.
I’m looking forward to driving an entire tank on my own and see how it goes.

It's wonderful IF this is your first hybrid.
otherwise, not so wonderful.

I was getting 70 to 80 MPG 23 years ago in my model year 2000 Honda Insight with 5 speed manual transmission.
I'm sorry you had to drive an Insight. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Great MPG, but the humility!

Just filled up this morning, for I *think* the 4th time. Hand calc at the pump was just over 49 mpg (641 miles/13.058 gallons). Dash was showing 50.9, the most deviation since buying the truck, most likely due to the weather being a lot cooler the past couple of weeks. (We dipped into the 37-42 range overnight, with days in the low 50s for the high, and we're in southern NJ). - Heat wave the next couple of days, 78 today, and 82 on Saturday.

I could have easily hit 700 miles, but have always been leery allowing the gauge to hit E, even with the ~3 gallon reserve on the Hybrid. Close enough, and I'll take it, as distance to empty was 51/52, not counting the reserve.

Now to decide on whether to change the oil at 6 months, when it still looks clean on the stick, or go my the monitor, which claims May '24(!) as the anticipated date. (Basically 1 year from when the Ford Pass was connected, with delivery on 04/29).

Mine pops up on my "Trip 1" screen. If you toggle the "ok" button up or down on the right side of your steering wheel, it should eventually take you to that screen. I hope that helps!

5 tanks of gas - no complaints so far. For this last tank, I tried to use the eco setting when I remembered... slight improvement but I think that is due more to the fact that it is fall so I'm using the a/c less. I live on Oahu so there are no roads that I can drive much more than 70 mph which probably helps mpg. I live windward side and work on other side of Island so I have to cross Ko'olau range to/from work... maybe ~1000ft up and down - stays in electric mode all the way down. All of the mpg numbers the truck displays are optimistic/deceptive. I ended up with 721 (took pic at 714) miles on this last tank but I put 14.1 gallons in when I filled up, so that is barely 51mpg - not 55 like the computer says. I also have a '22 XLT FX4 4K and I get about 28mpg, which isn't bad for a truck but I think I'm going to sell it. This XL is my first hybrid and I was worried I wouldn't like it, but it drives as well as the other one so might as well drive this one.

Nothing special to report on I just
love this little truck so much! The mpg is so wonderful!
Last week I ran my Mav to almost empty (3 miles to E!!!) before refilling the tank. It went 624 miles and took 14 gallons for 44.5mpg using Eco mode the whole time (which means changing to Eco every single time), not the 47.8mpg the "guesstimator" said. Still, I am very pleased. Mt '07 Tacoma 4door got 17mpg on a good day. This is not my best tank mpg, but in the summer running AC in the afternoon during my 39-mile commute (each way). 90% of my miles are commuting to work on a 4-lane mountain highway.

Your mileage is impressive. Did you also manually calculate MPG based on gallons to refill?

As an experiment, I running this tank in standard mode, not Eco.

......

You are comparing an 1,800 pound, 2 door, 2 seater, ultra compact car, to a 4 door, 5 passenger truck.

Are we also going to complain that the Maverick doesn't accelerate as fast as a Corvette?

Edit:

My first car, late 70's Civic, broke more than 40 MPG. I guess the Maverick isn't wonderful.

I had to give up the high mpg of our 2022 Prius Prime (and ability to drive around town on EV only, powered by our solar panels) when we got the Mav. That Prime was so darned efficient and cheap! (Toyota couldn't give them away for years before supply chain hit - we got it for so darn cheap).

Mav is more fun to drive, though. Quicker by a lot. More comfortable. Cargo options, etc.
Still miss the Prius' efficiency though.

So, when I've had my Mav for 5 weeks now. I never remember to put it in ECO mode. First fill up calculated by hand was 46.4. The readout on the dash was 46.2. Next fill up I'll see just how accurate the dash readout is. Kind of wishing I would have waited for the 25's with push button start though.
