Can I Change the Color on my Order?

I would like to change the color on my order.

I have production scheduled for the week of June 26th. Ford tracking shows that a VIN has been issued but a window sticker has not been released.

If I recall correctly, Tim Bartz said that color was one thing that could be changed at the last minute (even as late as the week of production).

My dealer is saying that no changes can be made since a VIN number has been assigned.

Can someone please tell me who is correct?

Unfortunately, once the VIN is issued, you can't make changes.

I thought I read on here that a color change could be made anytime before your vehicle hit the paint booth. I searched, but can not find.

This is not true. I changed the color of my 2022 from Hot Pepper Red to Cactus Gray after it was scheduled for production. Really just a matter of whether the system accepts it.

My bad. I did check and I did find a post referencing Tim saying you can, but has to be done before it actually goes into production:

That's only from 2 weeks ago. I know my dealership wouldn't even try once I had my VIN though.

In this case, your dealer may be wrong about his ability to change it...but good luck getting the one person who may be able to change it to do what he's already told you he can't (won't).

Dealer rep and sales manager who are both nice and I believe are being truthful, told me they are hesitant to change the color because they’ve seen some get their dates change. I’m Area 51 trying to to atlas blue. I said F it , just leave it alone

My dealer told me the same thing. But I realky wanted Cactus Gray so I said just do it even if it causes a delay. Turned out fine and I've had the truck since December.

Not really an A51 fan but will admit it looks really good on the Maverick - IMO

Yes I believe it is, I kept going back and forth on color black or grey and packages, I was warned to make up my mind before production email and vin.
