I couldn't find where this had been posted before so here goes:

I ordered my 2022 Maverick XLT Hybrid at the end of July, 2021. I purchased it on Oct 5, 2022. Between those dates, Ford Issued a memo to all dealerships about the price increase on Mavericks effective Dec 27, 2021. The memo states that "automatic price protection will be provided on firm 2022-model fleet, retail, and demonstrator orders signed and dated on or before December 26, 2021."

Because of this forum, I knew about this memo when I purchased the Mav on Oct 5 and asked the sales manager about it. He knew about the memo and said the dealership automatically submits a request for the rebate whenever a Maverick is purchased meeting the criteria and that I should get the rebate through the dealership in about 45 days. I waited about 60 days and stopped by to check on it. Yesterday I made my 4th trip to the dealership to see what the heck was going on. I spoke to the new sales manager who spoke to the general manager who said that the dealership has several 2022 Maverick owners waiting on the refund. So they said they would call Ford today to check into this mystery and call me with the results. Well, mystery solved - they found out that Ford has decided not to pay ANY price protection refunds to any Maverick owners!

I think I paid about $1200 or so above the quoted price when I ordered my Maverick and expected to get that amount back. I realize that amount might not mean a lot to some people but as a retired person and a Veteran, it does to me.

Anyway, if you are still waiting for a price protection refund from Ford - forget about it!

Sorry if this info has already been posted.

I ordered on Oct 6 2021 , purchased on Oct 10 2022 , received a refund check from Ford by way of Dealer for about $1400 4 weeks later. Your dealer is misleading you. Per Ford Video guy, dealers were supposed to subtract the increase from Msrp and sell to the customer at the original price. Most dealers did not do that, mine included, my dealer stated when I bought the truck I paid current Msrp and when Ford refunded the money difference to them they would write a check to me. This is what they did. It sounded to me they didn't trust ford for the refund. Doing it this way also gives the dealership the opportunity to pocket the difference for themselves and blame Ford.

We need another source to confirm. If so, that sucks and expect a significant price increase for 2024 to curb demand.

Talking to them now.

The lady I spoke with kept saying that I need to talk to my dealer until I explained the dealer said they had called Ford and were told that ALL Maverick price protection rebates had been cancelled.

After checking with others in her department, she concluded that while they had not heard of this change, it is probably true.

Price protection is for the dealer. It is up to the dealer to offer it to the customer (or reimburse after the fact). Ford does sometimes fail to correctly pay the dealer. It is possible that that happened in your case.... or your dealer is just not paying it and blaming Ford.

Ford does not pay price protection refunds to owners. That isn't how it works.

I agree, that is why the dealer said I should get the refund through them in about 45 days after purchase. This never happened.

There is certainly a lot of misunderstanding about price protection! I do work for a dealership.... Ford has often screwed up and shorted us on price protection. But it is rare that we get nothing.

I think that there is a greater chance that they got it and don't want to give it to you, than that they didn't get anything.

Price protection is only for the person that originally placed the order. If the dealer did not do COVP properly, they can't prove they sold the truck to the same person that ordered it.

amazing. Today Ford decided to drop their E-mav prices....maybe that's where 'price protection' went for Mav orderers - gotta make up the money somewhere...

My dealer gave me the protected price at signing with no hassle at all on October 5 2022. Bummer.

I got this response from Tim the Ford Video Guy and am getting back with my dealer with this information: "No, they have not been canceled. They might have to request it but it is available. Then can even request it on the COVP website."

I'll report back on the results. Thanks to everyone for your responses and info.
