Hi have had my Maverick Hybrid for a year now 24,000 miles . The shuddering has been going on now for 3 months . So I decided to get wheels balanced and wheel alignment stool same issue . Took it to the dealer to get recall calls done side air bag and engine compartment . They test drove the truck it’ shudders T all speeds when accelerating. Mechanic said he notice the front axle leaking ordered part waiting to replace . I know that this will not fix the problem. After the axle is fixed going to trade it in not going to keep driving with truck shaking like crazy .
There was a guy on youtube who did have a shake like you describe and it was his front axles which he had replaced and did in fact fix it. I can't say if that is YOUR problem but it MIGHT BE?

If you find can you please paste the link. There have been some leaky spots on the drive way but recently checked all cars and none appeared to be leaking except my daughters 2015 Infinity. It's not leaking now, but did take it to a trusted mechanic and said it's not leaking and could have been water off the exhaust. It was shooty in color as put a tarp under her car, after she had parked.

Think the shudder came back but is not as powerful so will monitor as at 4,900 miles. Last night and today. Last nights, thought hope it's not the shudder and the just the road. But felt it today as well but even milder but a few times. Not sure what to think but watching the thread and driving the truck, which I do love everything about it, Guessing if it was the front axle it would be all the time.

Not quite yet, but its coming.

Heres my story, no vibration, no shudder until 5000m, then started noticing slight vibration when deacceleration. Now at 7000m was regularly shuddering, at 10000m its getting unbearable, and can hardly drive vehicle.

Seems like at every day, more people are complaining of engine vibration, shuddering upon acceleration, and shuddering upon deceleration.

Several members have had theirs into dealer, dealer either says cant duplicate, or they dont know whats wrong.

There is a posting right now of a mans who came apart at 80mph. I have heard of another member had his replaced.
I diagnosed mine as the damper causing vibration and shuddering, i will have mine in the shop at the end of month as soon as the air curtain recall, get it all taken care of at once.

Definitely be of a TSB status now.

Some people would ask, whats with all this talk about a damper?
The damper is a mechanism that includes a set of buffering springs in a frictional circular clutch type disc.
Whats key here is the purpose of this flywheel/damper is to drive the HF45 hybrid unit from the ICE. A straight up mechanical coupling would work w/o a damper, however it would not drive very pleasantly, and it would self destruct itself in no time.
The damper absorbs and minimizes combustion spikes and vibrations along with crankshaft harmonics. Without it these bad vibes would be passed along to the HF45 hybrid unit, which it turn/time would reduce the planetary drive to pile of metal. So to extend life of HF45 and its components some type of buffering/reducing mechanism was inserted in line between the 2.

This is where the damper gets inserted and in theory absorb such, however if its not rigidly designed the damper can beat itself to death.

Enter todays setup, something is defective in the damper and its taking itself out. This is why i say a redesign needs to be considered or the OEM design will just beat itself to death again.

Ford, we listening, to this elementary explained theory?
So I'll add myself to the list of Hybrid owners with the shudder.
- Initially <5K miles it was a very mild vibration. Conditions: Started up in my garage. Mild 70 degrees temperature, under acceleration, very light incline in the road. Happened a few times and just made a mental note of it.
- >5K miles I got a heavy shudder, like someone referenced going over aggressive rumble strips. Conditions: Had already driven it to the grocery store, parked, got my groceries, came back out, and started it. Cold temperatures at 26 degrees (noted the temp after it happened), I have the heater on "Hi" and turned on. As I'm leaving the parking spot and approaching a stop sign, I just get off the gas and about to transition to brake and a very strong shudder goes throughout the truck. It lasted at least a full second+ because I had a chance to process what was happening and thinking "WTF is going on?" It stopped, I drove home and made a mental note.

Well since I have two recalls to do, I suppose I'll just let the Service Advisor know when I drop it off for that Recall work. Anyhow, just wanted to note my experiences.

Interesting note: I'm going to do a 1100 mile drive later this week with my motorcycle in the back, so let's see how it does.
My 2022 Mav has has only 600 miles but the shudder has started already in the last couple of hundred miles and It's getting stronger and more pervasive. I switch to Sport mode to prevent stopping ICE and the transition to electric mode as a workaround. It seems to prevent the issue from happening but it also makes the mav noiser and less efficient.

I want it fix. I don't care if the engine has to come out, just want Ford to take care of it. I have an appt with my dealership on Monday.

I can send my VIN etc. I have had my Hybrid XL since January and have had the shudder almost since new. It started in the morning after making my first stop when going to work. No AC on. No heat on. When accelerating from stop the shudder would start and I would lift the accelerator for it to stop. Wouldn't happen again until the next morning. When I took it to dealership at 5k miles they said there were no issues but they changed some settings. Now it shudders after driving a while and when braking. Two days ago I started the truck after a 5 Mike's drive and and hour parked. When the engine started without leaving my parking spot it shuddered so bad I expected the engine to fall out. I let it idle and it stopped in about 2 minutes. People who had just pulled in next to me looked like what the @&$!. I have seriously started to consider getting rid of it. Currently 5700 miles.
My Ford Maverick is shaking and shuddering like crazy . Has the wheels balanced and aligned same thing when accelerating only it’s really bad like you said feels like some is going to fall apart or come off the car . I don’t want to drive it anymore. Took it to the dealer for the recalls had them look at it they told me they notice axle was leaking so they are going to change . I really don’t think it will fix the problem. And what’s give with the brakes grabbing hard at a light when you inch up sometimes I think someone hit me from behind of Iam going threw the windshield bad . Might be time to trade it in not happy with this truck at all .

2023 Maverick XLT Hybrid and had my first two shudders today. Hence my searching the forums. Has anyone noticed them on a '23 beside me?

I should clarify, one of the shudders as I was sitting in the car waiting. The engine kicked on and had about 5 seconds of shudder before returning to normal.

You were stopped?
Your wheels were not going around at all?

That's correct. As in, I got out of the car and looked under the hood to see if I could see anything. (Not that I would have any clue what I was looking at.)
SEEMS, repeat, seems as if the brakes, of either kind, have little or nothing to do with the shudder.
With all due respect, it appears that you are the only one to whom a stationary shudder has revealed itself.
Verryyy interesting!

I WIN!!!!

At least the other time it was decelerating on a hill so it was similar to everyone else.

I have (2023 hybrid, 3.5 weeks old). Regarding shudders while moving I got my first minor then one large earthquake shudder at 225.0kms, just minor shudders since. I started to notice this weird lunging feeling when brakes are on at first stop sign after ice turns on for my commute home, starting last week- others have had this shudder / lurch feeling while sitting stopped.

I knew getting it was too good to be true. I'll keep an eye on it. Tried to replicate it tonight and couldn't so taking it to the dealership wouldn't do much good yet.

Yeah that was my thought too, seems like a waste of time.
