2023 XL/XLT PSA - No ambient lighting

I understand that. I was just explaining my original confusion on what the topic was about is all.

I thought they didn’t have ambient in the way the order guide says and they don’t. Only Lariats do. The others thought the opposite. They’re both correct, just referring to different things. I was just explaining my original confusion

Sounds good man. So now that we got to the bottom of the naming confusion lets get back to helping the OP add some ambient lighting to the center console of his 23MY XLT.

Can anyone with the light take a picture of your layout? I'd like to try and get the part numbers from both the bulb and the console.

When you get a chance can you pull out the console and snap a picture? It doesn't require any tools, pulls straight out.

I have a 22 xlt hybrid and I have ambient lighting.

Well I guess now that Ford did what they do again, I'll just plug one of these into the unused USB C or a lighter adapter. And I'll put a bonus one in the back too

@Executech how did you get the panel to come down? I tried just sliding it forward like the OP suggested but had no luck. Are there some clips or screws holding it in place?

I haven't seen this posted, but compared to the 2022, my 2023 does not have the bulb for the center console or the icon in the screen for ambientCan anyone with the light take a picture of your layout? I'd like to try and get the part numbers from both the bulb and the console.

The best way I can explain it is I pulled at an angle between down and toward myself. The brackets appear to be angled.

since when was the blue ambient lighting included with xlt? It’s a lariat feature

Nah, I have it on my XL. On my 2022 it was defaulted to off. I had to turn it on in the settings.

Ok this is bugging me, how do you all get that plastic tray loose? I have tried and it seem really stuck in place. Are the two bolts under it important. Do you yank straight down or something?

Looks like part number is the same, they just updated the "d" to an "e." Also, my part is 3 months newer. I will have to wait until Monday to see what the parts department says.

Did you happen to notice a part number on the light itself?

Also, since there isn't a setting in the infotainment, I wonder if there is an option to enable it in Forscan...hmm.

Right thumb in the cigarette lighter, left thumb along the usb port, pretend you're going to strangle it and pull towards the shift dial. There are 4 clips that hold it in. No screws.

Use a plastic pry tool then. Start with one side (driver or passenger) and go from there.

On the XL/XLT it seems to frequently revert to off. I suspect whenever the infotainment got updated.

The console downlighting had defaulted to off in my XL. I didn't even know it was there. I learn something every day.
