What would happen if you mount the fog lights in the same spot you did - but not have them recessed ?

Just drill/mount the brackets to the same spot - and a hole for the wire harness.

You could do that. Probably would need different brackets though. Wouldn’t be hard to make. Driver side might require removing the bumper though because there’s no access to the back of where you’d mount the lights

I am impressed you have the skills, really.

But I live some place where I have to see cars coming at me on straight level roads for a mile , some times two miles and I wish people would quit putting blinding amount of lights on their cars. The 18 wheelers are even worse and the livestock trucks are lit up like casinos.

Congratulation on your workmanship, but if you are ever on straight level roads please give oncoming traffic a break. A lot of people around here dont.

I use the automatic setting on my mavs headlights. It turns off when it senses other cars way out there. It works better than I expected.

The fog lights are aimed below my headlights, and I wouldn’t even consider running the driving lights with oncoming traffic. I hate that too, and don’t do it to others. It turns off the high beams only right? Normal headlights stay on?

It’s easy to get the wires in, as there’s a removable grommet in the firewall right behind the battery. I have some factory style switches on order and I’m going to attempt to mount them in the empty space next to the screen

Edit: Nevermind, thought it was just a fog switch but it's a dual control switch. This might be a good option for those looking to add just fog lights with a factory look

Why not just use a switch from an escape or Bronco sport and swap out the left most switch cover to match the bed light switch on the maverick panel?

This is the best option for sure if you only needed 1 additional switch. I’ll see if mine fit on the far right but they probably won’t so I’ll try to make something for the cubby by the screen that looks good

any idea on how to connect to the charge posts for hybrid owners?

Check the owners manual, I read that Ford says not to attach accessory electrical to the battery posts because it can screw up a computer.

This has more to do with the BMS. It's just important to attach accessories to the metered side of the post so the "computer" or BMS sees the draw of said accessory otherwise it will never compensate for that draw.
