I don't mind spending the money for A) something I can buy, and B) something that won't fall apart in 2 years. My speculation, added to the huge pile already, and worth less than the price you paid for it...
There will be no battle for the bottom end of price. Anything anyone else builds will cost substantially more, and Ford will likewise continue to bump up the price until decreasing demand = improved production. If they make money at that spot, they will continue to be the budget truck leader.
If they can't make money there, the Maverick will have been a fun and temporary blip on the market.

You must not buy much.
Actually, neither do I...I don't!
I am sure they will bring something at some point, but Toyota is not exactly known for bring vehicles to market quickly... The would much rather sit back and read the market. I would say a late 2025 or 2026 MY for some type of competitor. And that is if they are serious about it.If you think Toyota will sit on the sidelines and not introduce a better small pickup.... YGATC!

I am only interested in a hybrid Maverick. This is a third vehicle for our family. It will be used for local driving, errands, Home Depot, Lowes, kayaking. My limit on any vehicle is $30k and fuel economy is most important to me. I've been very happy with my every day driver, A 2016 Honda HRV, 28 miles city, 35 miles highway. Works for me. I will use the HRV for road trips and the Mav for local driving. No hybrid = no interest
Interesting. So you don't give any consideration to how much of a foreign company's product is actually domestically produced? So a Maverick built entirely in Mexico at a plant that Ford invested in over the border trumps a Tundra that has 75% of it's materials sourced here in the USA and is the result of billions of dollars of investment here in the USA? Curioser and curioser.I only buy American company products!
I said "trumps", not "drumpfts"...."trumps" a Tundra explains it.
looks great to me, after no maverick in over one year in our driveway, if its priced closer to maverick, than the santa cruz, and needs better mileage then 20-26 as my 2019 f-150 is rated.I would buy one now if they had them.https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/com...A1399VA?cvid=91c16c2786f5400b94b7473081422d4f
