Sounds like you have a beef with the dealer. If you're canceling because Ford can't deliver, than what do you care what happens to your order as long as the dealer has been acting in good faith?
Nope, not at all. I enjoy working with Chapman Ford of Horsham. Tom and Team are really good.

I believe in a FAIR system. That's all. Lets say I cancel and you don't (just sayin'). My order gets scheduled in December 2023 and you're still waiting. I don't think it is fair that the dealer gets a scheduled retail order ahead of you still waiting.

I believe in a FAIR system, that's all.

Eh I'm going to wait till December before I start getting bent out of shape. If it comes great, if not... well not much I can do but cancel I guess.

This info is only intended for dealers too, so I kinda wonder if the intent is to get them to steer people towards the Ecoboosts. Not sure if Ford plays those kinda games though.

I do wonder if ford could lose a lot of orders in the meantime. A lot of people just need a vehicle, if the Maverick is not available, they will move on.

I appreciate that rationale.

These plans startedong before a pandemic
Very simple, they could have postponed the launch until they had all their ducks in the row. They announced the launch during the pandemic. They should have learned from the disastrous Bronco Launch and kept things more conservative with this launch. The main reason I went for the Maverick was that my Bronco was delayed for many many month and my dealership told me the Maverick would be available without any issues and I could order in summer and recieve it in the Fall. Now here we are, it is groundhog day again...

I contacted Chapman to move from the hybrid to the Eco boost. I’m disappointed, but I’m not mad. I’m not in a position to wait till the spring.

I wonder if some regions had higher demands and Ford decided those markets get 100% of the hybrids for now. West coast states (CA/OR/WA) are probably much higher in demand for hybrid/electrics than the east coast states.

I am good waiting for a while. My Mustang gets 31mpg on the highway which isn't bad, it's just not ideal for hauling stuff. I try to take some solace in the delays being a supreme being's way of telling me I should put more down and pay less interest anyway LOL.

Agree with this 100%.
Looking at the market and the options out there, anything under 30K that gets better than 22mpg is an improvement over "midsized" trucks that are out there.
2018 Frontiers that barely get 20mpg are going for over 30K right now. Insanity.
The only truck found close was a Toyota SR crew cab 2WD 4cyl. For a little under $30,000

Maybe that would cost more than doing what they did. Remember this has also blown away all expectations of what anyone thought it would bring.

How can they NOT cancel the order? It is tied to your name and email. While I don't know their system, typically the name on the order doesn't change. I guess they can always update an email address though. But with Ford requiring dealers provide a copy of drivers license for each order, I can't see how they could not cancel.
What does the dealership have to do other than give back a deposit? They already have the DL on file and can change the email address to the dealership (keep in mind that some dealership are using their email and not the customers) so the order can stay on the books because the deposit went to the dealership not Ford. So the Maverick is built and sent to dealership and what...the customer is a no show! "Oh my!" says the dealership GM, we must get our $$$ back! Bam! 2-5k markup and on the lot that "canceled" Maverick goes! :)

The more I think about this, the less sense this makes. Are they just going to stop producing Hybrids come middle of October?

So we will end up with MY2023 Mavericks if we don't get a build until the middle of next year?

Went ahead and switched to a velocity blue XLT with ecoboost today after reading this news. Removed a few of my options as well. Maybe down the road that "standard hybrid" will prove itself to be both "standard" (i.e. something you can actually purchase) and a long lasting hybrid, but right now seems like there are more questions than answers.
I feel like I just incrementally moved forward by you switching to the ecoboost! 😂 Now if the other 20k hybrid orders ahead of me would do the same thing, I'll be next on hybrid!! :ROFLMAO:

Anyone in this forum could have predicted the extreme demand for this truck. Those are people with a multi million marketing budget, if they didn't know about this than something is wrong with them as marketing professionals. I am in marketing and have launched several products worldwide. It is an art for itself and you have to calculate all sort of things in. Pandemic was as obvious as anything else. I am sorry, but they screwed it up badly, there is no excuse. The truck most probably wont arrive before spring of next year, I am super pissed because I have to change all my plannings...

I placed my order for an XL hybrid on 6/16/21. I then received a "scheduled for production" email from Ford on 8/12/2021, with a scheduled build date of "the week of October 4, 2021."

I wonder if I'm going to receive an e-mail notifying me of a delay, or if they are actually going to build a least some hybrids.

I suppose time will tell...
