Yup, and I'm one of those people. I'm not a rollover so I'm probably not under any sort of consideration, but if it's still a holdup come late December I'll definitely drop it.
I hope it helps ya get your rig faster, or at all the way things might be looking.

Most definitely. Probably a vast majority that stuck it on as an add on will never use it beyond putting one of those hitch cover in it with a fish or whitetail on it.
There is value in having the hitch, even if you don't think you will need it. It is hard to add it on later and being able to slap a uhaul trailer behind your truck (or SUV or crossover) is very convenient. I'd have a hitch on my Escape if I didn't have to reroute the tailgate foot sensor things.

There's definitely value there, no questions about it. I wouldn't have one without it. For those that have a very slim chance of ever using it, and it is keeping the rig from being built, it may be smart to drop it off. You may not be able to pull a U-Haul trailer, but you can't pull one with a Maverick that isn't built yet either.

Hell my high school car was a '73 Firebird Formula. Someone had added air shocks and a receiver hitch into it before I bought it. That was the first thing I was going to remove. Didn't get around to it and ended up using it some to pull light stuff like an air compressor to blow out the combine radiators, pipe trailer to a field, etc.

I think we are too early in the process to know what is a true constraint. The only thing listed as a hard constraint in the first batch is hybrid and mudflaps. Not a single MY23 has been built yet. I suggest those with just a hitch to hold for now, if they can. Come May, might have a different opinion.

Fully agree. I didn't mean to drop it now. I meant if it becomes the only holdup for some folks. I'm not very good at conveying meaning in typing sometimes.

I have an EB XLT AWD on order with the only options being the hitch and floor liners. I could drop both if need be but I guess I'll just hold for now and see how things progress. Or maybe I should at least drop the floor liners?

We also have a hybrid on order for my wife but that's a whole different ballgame:)

I have floor liners and they have never been listed as a constraint for MY23. In fact, Tim says they are simply tossed into the truck at the factory for the dealer to install. A lot of the add-ons that are causing delays require the trucks to be pulled aside to have their constraints installed at the factory.

My guess on Hybrid constraints.... most of the 22s they booked at the very last second are hybrids. I was 1 yr+ wait by the time I would have been reordering a 23 and I think they realized how BAD that looked so they crammed a lot of us with more than a year waiting into the end of 2022... and frankly we were probably 100% hybrids.... guys who ordered EcoBoost in 2022 were getting build dates in weeks in some cases... there were exceptions but for the most part, early Hybrid orders with stuff like lux and 360 got royally screwed so they could keep pushing out EcoBoosts. And my guess is they are dumping all the hybrid engines they've got into keeping there from being a bunch of bad press of literally "I waited one year only to have to reorder the next year"... that exact complaint was, I think, something they were desperate to avoid... hence first few weeks on 23s will be low on hybrids I bet.

Well, I'm an Ecoboost order. Took 8 months to get a VIN and looks like about 11 months to (hopefully) hit the assembly line. So, I realize you hybrid folks have had it bad, relatively speaking, but it's not like it's been all rainbows and unicorns over here for the Ecoboost folks...

Damn, well my dealer still has 2 Mavericks previewing this morning but unfortunately mine is no longer previewing this week and was replaced with another 2022 rollover.

Sucks but it is what it is!

Natch... but 8 months is long for an EcoBoost.... I was over a year to get my vin... and there were guys at 13-15 months... it wasn't even that rare.

I'm sure it's already been mentioned but Ford Authority has a list of supply constraints and seems to indicate they are for dealer stock orders, not necessarily your order. Though there is probably overlap.

"Currently, the 2023 Ford Maverick supply constraints consist of front and rear splash guards, the hard-folding trifold bed cover, load box bedliner, pickup box extender, soft-folding tonneau cover, load box edge protector with lights, protective film for the hood and fenders, and the trailer hitch receiver. That latter item is not available to order as a standalone item, but is a part of the XLT Luxury Package, Lariat Luxury Package, FX4 Off-Road Package, and Tremor Off-Road Package.

Since 2023 Ford Maverick order banks are closed to customers, these constraints pertain to dealer stock orders, and it’s also worth noting that these supply constraints can change at any time, as has historically been the case."

Is anyone going to drop the Trailer Hitch Receiver? If Ford Auth is right and it’s a constraint, it feels like a good way to try to sneak in. Given most of us probably included it since it’s only a hundred bucks from the factory, and much more expensive to add later.
It's not the stand-alone Trailer hitch but the Trailer Hitch Receiver in the packages. The $100 trailer hitch is not a constrained item.
