Did you know ford was going to build the maverick with hybrid standard before they announced it?
missed the main point- EVERYBODY paying attention knew the Maverick existed a good 6 months before Ford even acknowledged it was a real product. Where is the information out there Toyota is considering entering the COMPACT truck market?

Does their executive VP for NA discussing Toyota producing a compact truck on their unibody platform, and hinting they’ll have something for their show in 2023 not count as a shred of evidence? https://www.motortrend.com/news/toyota-compact-pickup-truck-under-consideration/amp/
yes, a shred. Of course there would be internal discussions about what others are doing. They are looking at it, but the tease about something at a 2023 show is not convincing it will be about re-entering the Compact space. This lifted quote below mentions the Tacoma covering the smaller truck space really well and there won't be a short term look at Compact...

"One of the spaces we're looking at—that won't be short-term—is where the compact pickup truck is going. You have Santa Cruz and Maverick on the market, and it will be interesting to see Scout. Today, we have the market really well covered with Tacoma, but that [a compact pickup] could be a possibility and something we continue to look at," Carter said."

Do you think Toyota or another corp isn't watching the success of the maverick? What manufacture is the king of hybrid? They already have the platforms in existing SUVs. They won't complete with price. But they will compete with reliability. Sorry for missing the point.

of course others are watching. It's still a very big step going from watching and discussing to making the business case and investment. Another poster linked an interview in this thread with some interesting info on Toyotas thinking about entering the compact space. The US and global economies are in a really tough place right now and nobody knows how much worse it will get before getting better. Surely that and possibly hurting their dominant position with Tacoma sales would factor in their thinking.

This has probably been asked a million times already but I can’t find anything. Is there anyone we need to do after the dealer submitted our order and we received the order confirmation from Ford? I logged in to my ford account and clicked reservations, it said I had none, should I be concerned?
I am just learning it as I go but from prior posts it sounds like you will not see anything in your Ford account until you get a VIN assigned.

I have been trying to figure this out too and here is a post where I said what I thought I needed to do but there has not been much feedback on if that is right or not so take that with a huge grain of salt.

I am North of Green Bay Wisconsin and used a small dealership. 7 or 8 of 15 orders were hybrids. All but one of the remainder were AWD ecoboost. My suspicion would be that midwest numbers numbers would be closer to what Ford predicted on the split. Coastal population centers along the U.S. probably at the 80 percent hybrid.

That's still about half the orders in a snowy climate buying the FWD hybrid, and AWD becomes less important in the southern half of the country.

If it's anything like 2022MY Ford didn't use the reservation system (I think that's just for Mach-E and Bronco). So it will never show in the Reservations & Orders page of your Ford account. Once you have your VIN you can add it your vehicles, but that doesn't really do much until you take possession and can link it for FordPass if you want.

Concur. That says a lot about what people in the snowbelt are willing to give up in order to get improved gas mileage. RWD work trucks in mid-west sell at quite a discount to the 4WD version.

And FWD isn't all that bad in snow. If you live in town, FWD with good tires is fine in snowy conditions. It's only when you get into the country that AWD becomes a big advantage

I ordered a 2023 base model XL hybrid with no options. I thought I had gamed the system until I saw this thread. Lol

I understand if you add the copilot 360 option you will get electric remote mirrors on the XL instead of the standard manual, 1970ā€˜s technology, mirrors.

Ha. Didn’t we all think we had gamed the system?

I never touch the electric mirrors in vehicles I’ve owned that have them. Set and forget. And if they get bumped at a car wash or whatever, it’s an easy fix. I don’t need them honestly. I’m in the minority though I’m sure.
Also, see my vehicle—I’m quite okay with 1970’s tech.

Why cant ford just set up another assembly line in a different assembly plant to keep up with the demand? I know car makers used to do this in the past. In 1968 the redesigned dodge charger was so well recieved, that chrysler started building them in 2 different assembly plants. Granted the tech in one of those was more primitive, but still, it can be done.
