I drive about 250 miles per week (1,000/month). My Frontier got 18 mpg (at $3.33/gal that's $185/month). My Maverick gets 46 mpg ($72/month). That's about $110/month savings. I expect gas to go up after the election in November, so my savings should increase.

At $110/month, that's about $1,200/year. That more than offsets the $200 hybrid fee, which I don't think NC has. PLUS the Federal Gov't is giving me a $4,500 tax credit for buying a hybrid! It would take 22.5 years for the State's $200 fee to add up to the Fed's $4,500 credit.
This is the first time I heard of a tax credit on a hybrid.

Fed credit is only of Electric or Plug Hybrid. There is no federal rebate for hybrids.

So basically 2023 ordering is at least as big a fiasco as 2022, possibly worse. No wonder Ford shut off the orders already.
Definitely worse for 2023 over 2022.

I think more people have had Yeti sightings than Maverick sightings. I won't believe Mavericks really exist until I'm sitting in one.

Until then, I'm just going to ride piggyback on my pet Yeti to work each morning.
There are several in my town, one just like what I ordered on 9/16.

Some people win the lottery too. Just saying I feel like I just bought a Ford lottery ticket.
I sure HOPE to get a Maverick.
I feel like I won the lottery by snagging a Maverick a month ago from my local dealer when the original buyer backed out. The truck was ordered 12/1/2021 and arrived last night. Going down to check it out tonight. Super excited!

Do you think any consideration will be given us with 22 carryover orders into 23? My dealer did bump me to priority 10. I’d hate to know some new 23 order pushes my hybrid to a possible 24 because of dealer quota bs. My original order was October 20. I sure hope Ford helps us out.

Indiana is like that too. Kind of sucks and i don't understand why they are penalizing people who buy hybrids
Since hybrid drivers use much less gas than the average driver, they lose tax revenue from state gas taxes for fixing roads (that hybrids are using too). To make up for the lost tax revenue, hybrid drivers get to pay more in registration fees.

I think that is so wrong. Because I want to improve my standard of living they get to come down on me anyway and take up my windfall? Just makes me feel even more like I am just their cash cow. Makes me want to disconnect from the whole stupid system. I think I'll have a chat with my local Senator and Rep about this.

Never said it was right, just that this is how they justify it. State and federal governments have lost billions in gas tax revenue over the last 3-4 years because of Covid, EVs, and hybrids and it's only going to get worse as EVs and hybrids start becoming more prevalent.

I don't think that is correct. The Maverick is not a PHEV and is not listed on the IRS list of eligible vehicles.
You're probably right. After I typed that, I looked it up; and it looks as though the Maverick is not on the list. I'm not sure why the Finance guy at Ford told me it was. I was signing the final papers, so it's not like he needed to sell me on it.

Who knows. He could have simply been mistaken or it was a slip. When you sell dozens of different car models, you are bound to slip up on some of the details.

LOL I know more about Mavericks than my sales guys do. They call me for questions

Remember, the internet is not real life. The average consumer doesn't know about car forums, and doesn't post their intentions there. In short, the data sample is just that, a sample. The real-world numbers will vary differently than those compiled from a group of rabid enthusiasts.
