Did they say how many orders they had for MY23 thus far? I ordered from a pretty small dealer as well and I think it will likely be a similar situation. They might get allocated 1-2.
Are we saying that most of the orders that everyone has put in for MY23 are just not going to happen?
So can someone please explain to me exactly what this "allocation" actually means? Is it better to have ordered from a smaller local dealership that only orders less than 12 or so? Or should I have ordered from a bigger one like McArthur Ford where they have over 300 on order? I'm confused and starting to worry now..

Ford can only make so many trucks. It's a laws of physics constraint. But it would not be fair to ship them all to the largest dealers. No one outside of the NY and CA would ever get a vehicle. So, Ford has a system that tells every dealer "you get X amount of vehicles to sell." It appears that it goes so far as to say they can sell X number of X variety.

That allows all dealers to have a shot at inventory.

To answer your question, a larger dealer will still get more allocation but with more orders, it will take longer to burn through them. In my opinion, I think it is better to be higher up on a shorter list than lower down on a longer one even if the longer one is being processed faster.

My local in town dealer told me a similar story when I went in Friday. I was told their allocation was 35 for the year and they wouldn't take my order. So I found another dealer that would take my order that same afternoon and they laughed the allocation story. Not sure who to believe but I have an order in at least with confirmation.
they might be holding a good number of those allocations for their own dealer orders after retail closes.

I am at a small dealer I was the #2 order that was 10-11-21 No Vin Regional always plays into this and they laid off most of those guys so who knows.? It is very complicated and frustrating! They filled one hybrid and four Eco's 5-6 got pushed to 23
Same. I was #7 of 12 with an Oct 1 order. Never got a VIN. I think my dealer only got 5 of the 12 last year.

From what I can tell, it is almost always better to go with a large dealer since they seem to have more pull and contacts with the Regional scheduler. Reading here for the last year, large dealers (those with 200+ orders) seem to have roughly 80% of them filled. Small dealers (those with less than 20 orders) seemed to have only about 50% of the orders filled. The system was supposed to be that both small and large dealers got roughly the same percentage of MY22 orders filled (all things being equal) but that definitely did not happen. Ford also said in March that they were going to a "first-in, first-out" model and moving away from allocations but that ended up being complete and total BS.

Really burns me that my Oct 1 order with no constraints was being passed over for late-October/early-November orders at larger dealers that had a ton of constraint items. RIght now I put my chance of getting a MY23 at 25% or so even after having waited a year and switching to one of the largest dealers in the area.

Apparently as long as it's the "right" large dealer... the subject of this thread had over 300 orders scheduled last year and announced today that they have 11 allocations for all of MY23. 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️

Trying to determine the odds of actually taking delivery of my 23 Hybrid XLT. I ordered midday Friday got an email right after.
I was feeling good about it, but after today, I am thinking maybe 3 to 1 odds. The dealer allocation has me concerned. Luckily I am in no rush but this process is intolerable.

If this is true, shame on Ford for even opening the order books.

Everyone who ordered a 2022 and didn't get a truck should be kicking the door down at Ford.

Which is why I don't think it is true or there is something else at play here. Ford has had plenty of time to shut down orders and kept them open. That tells me Ford believes they can still fulfill them because it makes zero sense to take orders they know can't be completed. That's public relations 101 level stuff.

I believe in Occam's Razor, but I think there is more going on with this dealer's allocation here than what we have seen so far.

The note repeatedly says "earned allocations". Could this be something different from "allocations"? Like, you get so many vehicles allocated based on current orders, but "earned allocations" are like a bonus based on other metrics?

Only its not just Chapman. Dealers have posted on Facebook that they had 80 orders last year and only getting 15 this year and some from 20 to 6. While not as steep as Chapman, there are others dealing with the same issue. I'm hoping it's a glitch.

I strongly feel that the 11 allocations is dealer stock only. It just simply wouldn't make any sense for Ford to have even opened order banks if they couldn't even come close to finishing rollovers. It's been mentioned a few pages ago, but that line that says "we are not withholding allocation for COVP in MY23" really makes it seem like this 11 is totally separate from rollovers and new retail orders, as those are the orders that would be part of the order verification program, which they are not withholding.

It is concerning that Ashlie emailed us as if it was aimed at all orders, but I'm hoping that was just a misunderstanding.

I find it strange Ford would provide stock allocation before they close retail orders. They don't even have a final count yet to determine it unless they are forecasting. In theory, most of the orders came in at the end of last week.

I don't think they have any plans to close retail orders. I was 7th in line at the fairly small dealership I ordered from. From the allocation numbers I have seen, I doubt they will get more than 3 or 4 mavericks. I have already started looking at other vehicles. That allocation will probably go to the dealers kids and mistress.
